Since Justin had just gotten back into being the businessman that he was, he'd decided to find us a small apartment to stay at for a few weeks, thanks to Aisha, because he'd be working from New York for some time.

It was a beautiful place with a great view and a mostly white interior. It was a spacious apartment with a lot of art work but I loved the simplicity of it.

While Justin went off to a meeting with Richard, I did some unpacking and took care of our laundry too. I knew that Justin would probably get home and complain and say we could've taken our clothes to a dry cleaning place but I was bored and in need of a good distraction so I wouldn't start over thinking again.

As I emptied out my suitcase, I came across that white envelope Justin had given to me some days ago. I'd promised not to open it until the new year and, well... here we were!

I sat on the bed and started to open it but I was really nervous about it. I remembered the moment he'd given the envelope to me and I was keen to open it:

"I'd like you to open it after the new year." He said.

"I hope you don't mind me asking why."

"Because... I just... I want us to enjoy the rest of our time in Canada and I don't want you feeling like you're under pressure or something."

"Under pressure?"

"You'll understand when you open the envelope."

"Justin, you're starting to worry me." I frowned.

"No, don't worry. I'm sure you'll love what's inside there." He smiled.

"It seems serious if you don't want me opening it now."

"It is serious. But it's nothing to worry about."

"Can't you just tell me what's in the envelope?"

Justin shook his head.

I placed the envelope on my lap and looked at it.

"Remember when I said I'd try?" He asked.

I nodded.

"I'm trying. What's in there is a big step, Dileah, and I want to take it with you. I don't want you opening the envelope now because it'll probably overwhelm you and I don't want my family influencing your decision. I want you to be ready."

"I am ready. I told you so."

"I know but I need you to trust me on this one, sweetheart."

...

"Can you give me a clue of what's in here?" I asked.

"No." Justin smiled. "But, Dileah, I want you to know that I love you a lot and there's no doubt in my mind that what's in there is right for us now."

"But we're happy right now. What more could we need?" I smiled slightly.

"Well, I'm hoping that, that completes us."

"I already feel complete with you, Justin."

"And I feel the same way too. I'm just... I'm sure about this, Dileah. Please trust me."

I took a deep breath and pulled some pages out of the envelope. They were all stapled together and what a thick pile of pages it was.

I quickly browsed through the pages. Justin's signature was at the bottom of some of the sheets. As I realised what this document was all about, tears began to fill my eyes and a smile-- a shaky one at that-- was on my face too.
