A Cling To Life

A door appeared where there was only dirt.

My father  was a great man. He was moral, spiritual, and was kind.

Things I don't consider myself as. I've done nothing but to isolate myself into a hole that has become my identity. The fear of being looked at as someone fair, has turned my life into nothing but despair.

I'm ugly both inside and out. I am wholly The Abyss, and yet I stand in front of true evil.

What is beyond the door is nothing short of Human cruelty. The idea that someone could view souls as nothing but tools rocks me inside.

The monster that lies within me did this. The experimentation of Humanity's limits.

“What was all this for?”

Only I can hear him.

“You know what this is for, it's the true act of desperation in a man. The need to reach one's goals will take someone to the depths not many have swam in.”

“Is this what you used me for? Was I eventually going to end up here too?”

“No. You wouldn't have ever stepped foot here.”

At least a hundred bodies, layed in a row. All of them, more different than the others. Some had missing limbs, others whole halves of their bodies. They all desperately clinged to life, their souls and wills strong.

There were machines keeping their bodies pumping blood.

A cruel act in this world.

In the middle there was a particular soul. It had nothing but its head. Their eyes were missing.

“It seems to me as if they were tortured to death. What an unholy act of sin.”

“I agree, whoever did this is a true monster.

The monster that laid in me.”

Past that room there was a hallway, containing cages broken free from.

“What could this monster possibly cage souls for?”

“Perhaps even monsters fear monsters.”

There's only one that wasn't broken, it was at the end of it. A man with a plain white shirt, one would give to an insane person, sat on his bed, looking directly at us

“I have nothing to offer you two.”

“What is this place?”

“As I said I have nothing to offer you. I do not care whether you live or die.”

“Huh? Die?”

Something was off about him, an instinct told me that non-answer was the answer itself.

To me he appears to be a declawed cat. The poor bastard.

“Thank you for the talk, good sir. Despite your disinterest in our souls.”

Said The Priest.

“Don't thank me.”

“Why shouldn't I thank you? For God has put us here for his grand plan. Whatever it may be, whoever you are, I hope our future isn't bleak.”

“Bleak it will be, your God has abandoned you. Now walk away, before the others get you.”

We moved on. To our presumably bleak future.

The next room contained blood splatter on most of the walls, it was the kind of room someone would host a meetup, and it seems many have met here.

Chairs were arranged in a circle, all knocked over, except three. There's a door to the next room, one wide open. A closet stood near the door.
