Merman!Michael despising his plain, dull golden yellow tail so he begins to paint his tail every morning, intricate designs of all different colors which he thinks looks cool, but in reality his tail now looks the same as everyone else's. He paints his tail every day, that is, until he meets you, a mermaid with a jet black tail and a smile that could warm the entire ocean. You noticed the paint on his tail as soon as you'd met him, and you thought it was endearing. However, you were curious as to what his natural tail looked like. One evening you found him among the seaweed, brushing off his tail for the night. Your heart swelled seeing his golden tail, the light color such a stark contrast to your black tail. Michael startled when you called out to him, swimming between the seaweed to where he float. "I like your tail," you said, smiling. Michael blushed, running his fingers over the smooth scales. "It's nothing special," he mumbled, setting his jaw. You swam closer to him, the end of your tail brushing his own. "I think it's beautiful. No one else has a tail like this," you said, placing a kiss on his cheek, and Michael couldn't help but look at his tail with a little more fondness, and suddenly his favorite color was black.
