Third Person POV
Eric had just stepped out of the office building, the warmth of the lights behind him fading as the chill of the evening set in. He hadn’t brought his car today—just didn’t feel like driving—so he slipped his hands into his coat pockets and started walking toward the bus stop.
The street was quiet, unusually so, with only the distant hum of traffic and the echo of his own footsteps keeping him company.
Then… he felt it.
A shift in the air.
That prickling sensation that crawled up the back of his neck like ice fingers. He stopped, heart skipping, and turned around.
Empty sidewalk. No one there.
He stared for a second longer, brows furrowed, before shaking his head and continuing forward.
He didn’t make it far.
A sudden force yanked him sideways. A hand clamped around his arm, dragging him into a narrow alley between two buildings. His shoulder slammed into the wall with a grunt of pain.
“What the—”
He looked up, breath catching.
The figure stood in the pool of dim yellow light from the alley lamp—familiar, impossible, real.
“Arya?” he breathed, stunned. His eyes scanned her face, and every cell in his body screamed confusion. Her hair, her eyes, the way she held herself—it was her. But her presence was different now. Charged. Fierce. Broken.
“So,” she said slowly, her voice razor-sharp with emotion, “you do remember, Prince Edward.”
She stepped closer, the rage in her expression almost unbearable to look at.
“Isn’t it strange?” she added, her voice low, thick with bitterness. “How your face has changed, and yet—I still recognized you. Like the universe wanted me to. Like it’s been waiting for me to find you again… and punish you for your sins.”
Eric’s eyes widened. “You… you’re alive.”
Arya’s laugh was hollow, bitter.
“Alive?” she repeated with a sneer. “You think this is alive?” She grabbed him by the collar, then her fingers moved to his throat. Her grip tightened. “I died the day Mia died. Because of you.”
Eric’s hands clawed at her wrists, gasping. “No—I didn’t—”
“Because of you!” she shouted, slamming him harder into the wall.
He choked, struggling to get the words out. His lungs burned. The edges of his vision began to blur.
“M-Mia… is alive.”
Arya froze.
For a heartbeat, she didn’t move. Her grip didn’t loosen.
