"Hello?" My groggy voice filled room the next morning as I answered my phone, not bothering to check the caller I.D. first.
"Stevie? It's me." I shot bolt upright, looking over at the still sleeping Liam next to me on the bed.
"Just a second, let me go downstairs." I whispered as I slowly pulled my body off of the mattress. Liam rolled over and reached out for me, face contorting in confusion, so I quickly grabbed my pillow and shoved it into his open arms, soothing before retreating down to the kitchen.
"Okay, I'm back. Did you need something? It's like two in the morning..." I yawned and rubbed at my eyes a bit more.
"Sorry for waking you, I just wanted to ask you something before I lose my nerve."
"Oh, okay! Well, ask away I guess." I drew my eyebrows together in confusion.
"I just wanted to know if you'd go to dinner with my parents and me for their anniversary. I'm sorry to ask you, and I understand if you say no because it may be really uncomfortable, but I haven't quite found a good way to break it to them that we aren't together. I just don't want to have to tell them on their thirtieth anniversary. They both loved you and would really like it if you are there. If you don't want to come I can just say you're working or something." He was talking quickly, seemingly really nervous about asking me.
"Yeah, sure I'll go with you. Text me the details later because I'm going back to bed now. Anything else before I go?"
"No that's it! Sorry again and I hope you sleep well. Bye Stevie!" I hummed in response and left my phone there on the counter, sleepily walking back up the stairs and throwing myself back onto the bed. A few moments later an arm was placed around my back and I was drug into Liam's warm side.
"Was that Him, on the phone?" Liam's grip was tight on my hip as he held me closer to his side.
"Yeah, I'm going to some dinner thing for His parents' anniversary with Him." I turned to face Liam, his eyes were closed but his jaw was clenched, and I knew he was upset again.
"Why do you have to go with Him?" Liam's voice sounded hurt and yet mad, most likely because he probably was thinking that He was "winning" again.
"I don't have to, He asked me to because His parents don't know that we aren't together and He doesn't want have to tell them on their anniversary. Besides, I love His parents like they are my own, why wouldn't I go?" Liam's eyes opened after my statement, softening upon seeing me.
"Well, as long as you want to go I'm fine with it. When is it?" I smiled when he relaxed and realized this dinner was something that I was doing for myself, not just Him.
"I'm not sure; He is going to text me the details later. Now, are we done with the interrogation so I can go back to sleep?" Liam laughed and nodded his head yes, rubbing my back gently as I closed my eyes and curled back up into his side.
I was laying there for around half an hour probably before I realized that tonight was not going to be any different than every other night. If I am woken up before I would normally wake up I just cannot seem to fall back asleep. So, I slowly pulled myself out of Liam's grasp and grabbed a jumper form the floor, throwing it on and heading back down stairs.
