(few weeks later, no longer summer, beginning of fall)
house (n.)
dwelling; a building made for people to live in, especially one built for a single family of occupants
"Liam?" I held my phone to my ear as I sat down on the couch breathing out a sigh of exhaustion.
"Hey Stevie! I'm almost home! Coming down the street now! See you in a minute!" Liam hung the phone up and I heard his car pull up so I jumped up and ran to the door, stepping outside and closing it behind me, obstructing his view.
"It's done!" It had been a couple of weeks since Liam had given me free reign over his house, asking me to completely redecorate for him. The past three days he had spent with family so he hadn't been home so I made it a real surprise for him. The basement was a movie theater room/man cave area for him and his friends or if we had people over for movies. The first floor was completely repainted. Liam's living room was all off-white except one wall, which is navy blue, and the kitchen and connected dining area are charcoal grey and orange. All of the main floor guest rooms are light grey with baby blue accent walls and finally, Liam's office is one navy blue wall, one brighter orange wall, and two medium grey walls. Lastly, I had done his room this morning. It used to be all white walls with his perfect light grey bedroom set and dark grey bed sheets. Now it is three different shades of grey colored walls and one deep red wall, with all of his white and black furniture. It looked beautiful. I had left alone the bathrooms in their white ways so that they are fresh, clean areas. With furniture, all I had really done was rearrange everything and bought a few more small items to add a new look.
"I can't wait to see your beautiful minds' works in real life!" Liam smiled and leaned down, kissing my forehead. Together we walked back into the house, and I watched his eyes grow wide.
"Oh no, you don't like it do you?" I could feel my eyes grow wide to match his as I looked up at him, worried that I had completely ruined his house for him!
"Are you kidding? I love it! I can't wait to see this rest!" Dropping his bags, he let me lead him around showing him the basement, which he was extremely excited to show the others, and the main floor. I stopped and turned when I started up the stairs to his bedroom. One stair above him I was the same height as him and I froze, losing myself in his deep, chocolaty eyes.
"Is there a reason we aren't going upstairs to see the bedroom?" Liam questioned, face contorted in confusion.
"Oh yeah, sorry! Before we go up I just want to say that I really hope you like this because I just did it this morning. I didn't want to stay in it before you got to and I really think you'll like it. I think it feels more like home and more like a comforting place."
"Stevie." Liam cut me off. "We both know I'll love it and it will be perfect. Just show me!" He chuckled and I turned and started up the rest of the way, coming to the landing and holding the doorknob. Once he stood behind me I swung the door wide open and let him in first.
"I know it may seem kind of girly but I truly hope you'll like it." I spoke, giving him time to take it all in.
"It's not girly, it's one hundred percent you and I love it. This is my favorite room in the house now. It's even better than the basement!" I received a cheeky smirk at that one. Rolling my eyes I swatted at his arm and headed over to lie back on the bed. I was joined by Liam and he rolled onto his side and placed his arm across my tummy, sliding me towards his warm body so I could snuggle into his neck and chest.
