The time was 11.13 when Harry Styles received a phone call from Greenwood. He was with some new friends from his school, when his phone rang. The phone call didn't take much more than three minutes, but it broke him. There were no tears on his cheeks, his heart was still beating, but it broke him. It left him crushed and completely numb, and for a second he wished he still lived in the trance of indifference so he wouldn't have to deal with this pain. He didn't say anything to his classmates, but they would know soon enough anyways - thanks to the media.

At 14.37 Harry was sitting in an office at Greenwood.

"This is most unfortunate, and I'm very sorry for the incident. It is still unknown how she got the knife."

Harry had still not quite found his speech, as a huge lump was stuck in his throat.

"Uhm.. Yes. Highly unfortunate."

The doctor spoke a bit more, but nothing of importance for Harry because his words could not bring Victoria back. Nothing could now.

"She.. Um.. left a note for you."

The doctor handed a small piece of paper to him and Harry took it with shaking hands. It was tiny; no more than 10x10 centimetres, but it was filled with tiny handwriting. Victoria's handwriting. The last piece of writing she would ever do. Her suicide note.

"Dear Harry. I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry. You said you got out of your trance of indifference. I never did. I thought loving you and being loved by you would somehow "fix" me, but I realized that the part of me that broke a long time ago could never be fixed. You tried fixing it, and for that I'm grateful, but I will never be completely free until I do what I had decided to do long before I met you. I hope you are, or will be, happy and free. If not, do something - volunteer in Ghana, travel the world, anything, that will make you free in a way that I never could be. I have to do this for me. There is nothing you could have done. You gave me some wonderful weeks, but I just... I have to set myself free and you have to let me go. I'm sorry. Goodbye."

Now the tears came streaming down his face. What he didn't know was that Victoria had realized that she would be broken forever; she had realized this because even if loving someone and being loved in return could not bring her out of the trance of indifference, nothing could. Harry Edward Styles had been her rock for months, but she had realized she needed to be her own rock, but that she could never be. She rescued Harry - from a life as a puppet on a string - but it was too late for her to be rescued.
