The third date. Naomi couldn't wrap her head around it. On the third she liked to tell about secrets, and the past. If the other person, in this case Jim Kirk, didn't want to share any secrets, they're gone.
Naomi put on a casual dress, one that was fancy, but comfortable at the same time. She met Jim at the fountain, just like the first date. They went to a different Restaurant, this one a but fancier.
It's been one weeks since the injuries to Jim. Due to the advanced medical technology, he was almost fully healed. All that remained were a few stitches and the fact that he was sore.
"Alright, about what you said on the last date. About all the secrets, do we really have to?" Jim asked, sitting down at your table.
"Yes, it's either that or we're through. We have to except each other early on." Naomi said, looking at the menu.
"Fine." Jim grumbled. "What do you want to know?"
"Just about you. Why you are how you are? You're family? Anything really." Naomi answered, setting the menu down. She's been here before and already knew a lot of the food options.
A waiter came to take your orders. She then left, leaving Jim time to answer all the questions.
"C'mon, don't be shy. I'll tell you everything." Naomi nagged, trying to bribe him into it.
"Okay. You want to know is bad." Jim grumbled, upset. "There's a lot to tell and a lot of its awful."
"That's the whole reason. To get to know each other. Now, tell me everything." Naomi said, sitting back in her chair smiling.
"Well, my dad died when I was born. He was a captain of a ship for a few minutes before it crashed and exploded. My mother was in labor with me at the time. According to her, they had enough time for him to hear me cry, discuss names, and then say goodbye to each other. I obviously won't remember this."
"Wow. I'm so sorry." Naomi muttered, shocked.
Jim shrugged like it was nothing. "So anyway, my mom married this other guy. He was pretty abuse to me and my older brother, Sam. Sam ran away when I was young and I haven't seen him since. My mother was never home, she didn't even know about the abuse. He would hit me and hurt me over and over. It was terrible. I had know one to turn to. I felt alone. Then I left home. Got into a lot of trouble, ended up in StarFleet academy, met Bones, met you."
Naomi was stunned. Jim had such a troubled past, yet he was pretty happy. "Wow Jim. Just wow."
"I know. That shocks a lot of people." Jim muttered, lightly stabbing the fork at the table.
"If you ever need to talk, I'm here." Naomi muttered, feeling really bad.
"Thanks." Jim muttered, smiling to himself.
"Okay, I'll tell you my past. My whole family kinda lost it when my younger brother, Nolan, died. He was killed in a car crash at the age of nine. I, at the time, was twelve. I have an older brother, Nathan, and an older sister Natalie. I have another younger brother, Noah. My parents liked "N" names. They neglected us after Nolan's death for about a year, but they are back to normal now. Nothing big except Nolan really happened to me." Naomi said, smiling at Jim.
"I'm sorry about your brother." He muttered.
"It was years ago, I'm fine." Naomi said, leaning across the table to kiss his cheek. "Okay, now's where the real fun begins in this."
"Oh God, what now?" Jim groaned, rolling his eyes.
"We tell embarrassing stories. For instance, when I was nine, I was climbing on the tree, I fell into a river. I was so scared to tell my parents because they told me never to go into the river. I sat outside, drying, for an hour. Just as I was about to go inside the house, it started to rain. My parents knew that if I was wet, I was in the river. Even though it was raining. I sat out in the rain for hours. It would stop, then start pouring again. Eventually, it was dark, so I went inside. We had company over that might, and I had missed it. My parents asked me why I was wet, so I said the rain. Then they told me to look down. I had the weed from the river hanging on my leg." Naomi said. "That's not too embarrassing, but it embarrassed me."
"Okay. Okay." Jim said, trying to think of a story. "When I was fifteen, I was still a trouble maker. I would sneak out sometimes and drink. There was one particular night when I was out. I saw my stepfather walking around at the bar. I had made this deal with a guy that he would buy me beer, but I would pay him back. So anyway, my stepfathers there. He's walking around, flirting with women even though he was married to my mother."
"He's horrible." Naomi muttered.
"Yeah, he eventually found me at the bar. He was too drunk to notice it was me, so I tricked him into thinking I was some foreign guy. I walked him home, put him to bed, and went out drinking again. I came home that morning and realized he was awake, and sober. I was still very hammered and not steady on my feet. Little did I know, he put a camera up somewhere in the room." Jim said, stopping to take a sip of water. "I did some really stupid stuff, like singing into an empty beer bottle. He posted that video all over my school for no reason. It embarrassed and angered me, but mostly embarrassed."
"He sounds like a horrible man." Naomi muttered, just as the food came. Neither of them said much until they were done eating. Jim paid the bill and waited outside while Naomi went to the bathroom.
She walked out side the restaurant to here the muffled sounds of some one getting hurt. "Jim!" She yelled, running into a back alley way.
Jim was laying on the ground, his face bloody. A huge man stood over him, wielding a knife. He quickly used his foot to kick the side of Jim's head, before hitting his head with the butt of the knife.
Naomi stood still, stunned by horror. The man ran away before she could react. "JIM!" She screamed, running over to his body.
Jim was barely conscious, blood oozing from the wounds on his head. "Naomi..." He muttered, his eyes fluttering.
"I'm here. I'm here." She said, pulling out her phone. She called medical services before calling Bones. Tonight was going to be yet another long night.
