Ezra's POV

It had been 5 weeks since i had returned to Rosewood. I hated myself, I hated my life, and I couldn't think about anything else but Aria. I was trying my hardest to let her go, but I couldn't get her out of my mind. I couldn't let her last thoughts of me be negative ones, I had to make this right–but how?

I had been locked inside my apartment, isolated from the world completely. It was now Christmas Eve, and everyone had plans to spend it with their families except for me. I didn't know what to do with myself, and decided to walk around Rosewood.

I had been walking around aimlessly for hours when I decided to give up, and decided ultimately to stay at the Brew for a little while. I ordered my usual drink, and as I was waiting, a familiar face walked through the door.

"Ella, hi! Funny seeing you here again, as it is Christmas Eve" I say, forcing a smile on my face.

"Ezra, hello. Our coffee pot broke so I'm just running out to get some coffee for everyone. Are you spending the holidays alone?" she asked, seeming genuinely concerned.

"Uh, yeah, none of my family could, uh, make it down this year." I say quietly.

"Awe, why don't you come spend it with us? It's just a quiet get together, though. I'm having the Fields, the Marin's, and the Hastings over, just the parents and the girls. I'm sure they'd love to see you." she said sweetly, reaching over and grabbing my hand.

"Oh, I don't know, I wouldn't want to impose." I say, trying to seem unsure, but really I was jumping at the opportunity to get even a glimpse of Aria.

"Oh, please, Ezra. You are basically part of our family already. You're always welcome at our household." she said, smiling.

"Okay, okay, fine." I say, smiling and nodding. We wait for her coffee order and we make our way to her house.

As we walk in the door, the most overwhelming familial atmosphere is in the air. Everyone is laughing and looks like they're enjoying themselves. I stared in awe for multiple moments before a familiar voice spoke up from behind me.

"Mr. Fitz?" Emily asked, a confused tone lingering in her words.

"Oh, Emily, hi. Please, call me Ezra."

"Um, okay, Ezra. Have you heard from Aria lately?"

And that evening, I spent hours pouring my heart out to Spencer, Emily, and Hanna about what was going on with Aria. I swore to myself walking in there that I wouldn't tell them what was going on, but the constant images of her around the house managed to break me.

I found out that Spencer was successfully studying at Yale Law, Emily followed her dream of going to Stanford with Paige and was studying Kinesiology. Hanna, who had always loved fashion, ended up studying at the Savannah college of arts and design (SCAD), which was one of the top fashion schools in the country, and studied in Fashion Marketing.

I was surprised to see the different paths the girls had taken, but glad to see that they had all gotten out of Rosewood as well. None of them had heard from Aria since she moved, and were not aware of the accident. At this point I was beginning to think that not even her parents knew about it. Ella seemed upset that Aria couldn't make it down for Christmas, but used the excuse that she was studying for midterms.

I was more confused than ever, but I was happy with the plan that the girls and I came up with. They agreed that I needed to get Aria back, and they were going to help. I was ecstatic but also deathly afraid of Wes. I wasn't scared for myself, but scared that I had just dragged three innocent girls into my mess.

We had agreed that the remainder of their break would be spent with me in New York. They were going to take a spontaneous visit to Aria's dorm, and go to dinner to catch up.  I was going to spend a good chunk of the visit in the hotel room. The idea of this was that they were going to bring up Aria and I's relationship, and try to convince her that Wes was wrong.

I had absolutely no idea how this was going to turn out, and I was extremely nervous to see the results. The girls were sympathetic and sweet, and I was glad I could let them know what was going on.

Aria's POV

Christmas on campus was incredibly lonely. Most of the students had gone home for the holidays, including all of my friends. It was just Wes and me. I didn't know exactly why he wanted me to stay back with him, but he seemed adamant on the idea and I hated not pleasing him.

We had a quiet dinner in our dorm, eating re-heated rotisserie chicken and pre-made stuffing from Whole Foods as our Christmas dinner. I normally would have been happy with a quaint get together with my love of my life, but something kept nagging at me. Thoughts of what lay in Rosewood kept me awake at night, all the secrets of my past yet to be uncovered. I thought about Ezra, and his look of pure hurt when I kicked him out. I couldn't stop thinking about him.
