1 WEEK LATER
ARIA'S POV
I paced nervously around the complex, trying to talk myself out of what I was about to do. I was standing in front of Ezra's apartment, prepared to say my goodbyes to him. I was on my way to the airport; I had gotten an internship for a publishing company. I was moving out to L.A with Isaac, and didn't have any plans to come back soon. I was going to miss Ezra, since we were such good friends, but things were getting awkward between us, and I think he was finally beginning to pick up on my feelings for him. We were both in relationships, and I really did love Isaac, but Ezra and I had this undeniable connection that I couldn't ignore.
I had already said goodbye to my family, and was meeting the girls at the airport for one final goodbye. I was eager to leave Rosewood, start fresh in L.A. The only thing holding me back was Ezra, and I stood outside his apartment contemplating what approach I was going to take for this.
I ultimately decided that I was going to quickly break the news and rush off to the airport, not willing to stay and chat. Things had grown uncomfortable, and I knew that if I let them play out any longer, one of us would end up hurt.
I sighed heavily before knocking on the door.
A normally well dressed Ezra answered the door in plaid flannel pyjama pants, not wearing any shirt. He obviously wasn't expecting to see me as a frantic expression immediately crossed his face as soon as he opened the door.
"Uh, Aria, hi! I, uh, I wasn't expecting you, come in." He said frantically, closing the door as soon as I walked in.
The apartment was completely filthy, clothes scattered all over the room, soda cans sprawled throughout. He immediately began to clean up the trash scattered around the small apartment, before ultimately giving up and sitting down next to me on the worn out couch.
"I need to tell you something." I said quietly, unsure of how to bring this up. My attention was focused on the coasters in front of me, not willing to see his hurt expression after I tell him.
Before he had the chance to answer, I blurted it out quickly.
"I'm moving to L.A. With Isaac. Leaving today." I said, all in one breath. It took multiple moments for me to even look at him, and there was an expression on his face that I couldn't quite read.
He seemed shocked at first, and his face then just went completely flat. And suddenly, a look of total sadness crossed his face.
"Y-you're leaving? For how long?" He asked sadly, seeming confused. He was running his hans through his hair, something i have realized was his nervous habit.
"Uh, I don't know yet. Probably awhile. I was offered an internship at a really well-known publishing company, and I don't want to jinx it or anything, but I'm hoping it may lead to bigger things. Possibly other job opportunities..." I said quietly, knowing every word that was coming out of my mouth was hurting him.
I didn't plan on going to L.A, the opportunity just came at a really great time. I had applied for the internship multiple months ago, and honestly, I had forgotten about it. At least, until the acceptance letter arrived at my door. And it just came at a perfect time, the only thing that was holding me back was Ezra.
"I uh, I don't know what to say... I mean, that's amazing, Aria, but why didn't you tell me anything?" He asked softly, his large eyes becoming glossy and filling with sadness.
Before I could even think of an answer, my body thought of one before my brain did.
I suddenly found my body pressed against his, our lips meshing perfectly.
