Chapter Six: Midnight Madness Part 1

(Late Afternoon, 5:45 p.m ☀️)-
   Richard and I walked to his car, which was only parked a few blocks away from my apartment.
Once we reached his car, I saw Rachel sitting in the passengers seat smiling. It was the first time I ever saw her smile. I guess she was really pumped for the concert!

Richard opened the back door of the car for me, being the gentleman he is, and I got in. He then walked around to the front door to sit in the driver's seat. Richard then put his keys in the ignition and the car began to start up. We then drove off to the concert.

In the Car-
"So, Dawn X, huh?" I asked while looking at Rachel. The title of it sounded a little dark.

"Yes. They're my favorite band. Tonight, at the concert, they are playing five songs from their new recent album, After the Fall." She said with a little smirk at the end.

"What are the song names?" I asked, a little worry in my tone.

"Oh. There's 'Unhallowing the Cathedral', 'Asylum Of Ruin', 'Suffering And Betrayal', 'Abandoned Child', and then there's my favorite, 'Springtime Death'! Each song is about fourteen minutes." She politely explained.

'WHAT THE-' I thought as my eyes widened in fear.
"They all sound...lovely." I lied trying to put on my best fake smile.

  "No. The songs aren't lovely. The songs are supposed to relate to pain, loss, betrayal, and death." She explained while looking at me.

    "Look, you two! There's the concert sign! We must be close." Richard said changing the subject.
"Can't wait." Rachel replied with zero emotion.
"Neither can I.." I added as I rested my head on my seatbelt. I then let out a sigh, this was going to be an 'Interesting' night.

     We finally arrived at the parking lot of the heavy metal rock concert. Richard parked the car and then we all got out.

I looked ahead of the car and saw the building that the concert was going to perform in.
Just From looking outside of the building, you could definitely tell that it was made for heavy metal concerts. The whole brick building was painted entirely black!

We all walked out of the parking lot together and towards the building. There were tons of people standing next to the closed entrance that would be opened in one hour. The people crowding the building, all looked similar to Rachel, goth and dark, but a lot of them were holding signs that said 'DAWN X <3'.

Everyone was wearing black, and then there I was, wearing a pink flannel top and blue jeans. I really popped out. Even RICHARD was wearing a little black! If I would've known we were coming here, I would've worn something black! Then again, I don't own any black clothes..

We were standing in the loud crowd of Dawn X fans, and the three of us stayed silent.

"Uh...What could we do to pass by the time?" I asked nervously while trying to break the silence between us.
"We could stand here and wait." Answered Rachel. I then began to sigh.
Richard looked over to me with a grin.

"What?" I asked confusedly.
"I know what we could do!" Richard said while smirking. A small smile appeared on my face.
"Come with me!" Richard said as he took my hand and led me out of the crowd.

"I'm staying here." Rachel quietly said.

Richard took me across from the crowd to a candy stand. There was a long line to it though, so Richard and I joined the line.

We eventually made it from the back of the line, to the front.
"What do you want?" He whispered as he pulled out his wallet.

"Oh, no no no, It's fine! You shouldn't have to pay for me." I replied. I didn't want him to waste any of his money on me. Plus, we met yesterday, so I just think that it would be asking for too much!

   "But, I want to, and I always get what I want." He responded playfully. A full smile appeared on my face, as I laughed at his joke.

"Kori, what do you want me to get you?" He asked while smiling.

"I'll take a pink cotton candy...aaand..a water." I ordered happily.

"Yes, and I'll take a lemonade, jelly beans, and a a cup of fries." He said.

"Alright. That will be 28 dollars." The woman at the booth said.

I gasped out of shock! Why so expensive?! Richard happily paid the bill for the snacks, and we both carried them back to Rachel.

We spotted Rachel and made our way to her.

She was crying..

I set down all of my snacks and purse on the ground and ran beside her, and so did Dick.

"Rachel!! What happened?!" Richard asked with worry in his tone.
"I-I ca-can't do this." Rachel said while sniffling in her tears.

"You will be alright! Just tell us what happened." I said calming her down a little.

"I-I can't.." She cried.

I turned to see Dick who was whispering comforting words in her ear. I then looked to her and held my hand up to her face. I then tried wiping one of her tears, but she pushed me away.

    "I-I just got a phone call..it's fine.." Rachel said while wiping her arm across her eyes to clear her tears away.

  "Are you sure?" I asked with concern.

"Okay, Miss Perfect..! Since when were YOU my friend?! You just all of a sudden show up, and then you just think that You're a part of our group?! Who do you even think you are?!" She asked furiously. She realized what she said and began to ignore everything around her.

"Rachel?! What the heck?! Where did that-" he angrily said to Raven. He suddenly stopped as he saw me crying.

I looked down feeling really confused. Tears began to cloud my eyes..It was too good to be true..

   I looked up and at Richard and a single word slipped from his tongue.

"Kori.." He said in disbelief as he gave me a frown. He put out his hand to me, but I shook my head 'no', and ran towards the parking lot.
