Amber P.O.V.
I felt absolutely cornered.
There was no way out, I had to face her.
Looking up at Sierra's deadly eyes, she grins down at me. She's acting like a harmless, nice young girl who would jump in front of a car to save a fly. Sure, Sierra wouldn't be at all scared about her new manicure.
She smells like peaches. To be honest, I actually really like the smell of peaches. But I don't think it suits her. Maybe a bath in garbage and bullshit would make her smell more... Her.
"Excuse me, Seirra." I say politely. "I have to do something."
"More like someone." She says angrily, still keeping a smile plastered to her face.
Her nails are digging into my shoulders. She's about a good half a foot taller than me so if you were to walk by, it looks like she's just grabbing something off of the lengthy bookshelf.
"Sorry, I don't do people. " Exaggerating the 'l'. "At least I don't do everyone... Unlike some people."
She scoffs at my comment before whispering right in my ear, "I know about you and Joshua's little meet ups. Just stay away from him, no one asked you to butt into my life."
Me? Butt into her life? Hah.
"I'm sorry, but I believe you were introduced into my life first."
By that, I make my exit.
"This is boring."
Jake is packing his bag for his trip to Louisiana. I'll miss him, but then again I have Aliah and Joanna to keep me company.
"I don't recall advertising that this would be fun." He says humorously un-humorous.
I'm staring off into space which also happens to be Jake's back. I can't stop thinking about this week. Joshua moves in next door, Jake gets muscular, Dylan cheats on Joanna, and now Sierra is pissed off at me.
"What's on your mind?"
I forgot that he was in front of me. Now looking at me.
Ever since I was 12, people would tell me I read everyone so easily. For example, that girl over there? She could have the biggest smile, but behind her happy facade could be her broken past.
Now that I was truly looking into Jake's eyes. I read his emotions. It was like a hurricane of emptiness. There wasn't anything there except for this one thing. I couldn't tell what it was. It made him look different.
"Why?" I question.
He looks at me in confusion before realising the question was aimed at him.
"Why not?"
I sighed, Jake was a tough walnut.
You had already eaten many walnuts with no issue getting the shell off. Somewhere along the line you meet this one walnut. The shell, it's so thick you start to question if there's even a nut in there. But you keep trying and trying. You're waiting for the outcome to show itself. That's where I'm at right now.
Weird observation, I know.
"Amber."
I look back up at his eyes. "Hmmm?"
"You know me so well. You know everything about me. Except that you don't." He pauses to think before saying, "I'm so open, so outgoing, but it's all such a lie," he sighs before continuing.
