This chapter is un-edited!

This crisp, fresh air hit me hard.

Not only was it cold, but it was, well yeah. It was cold.

"I should've worn 3 more coats..." I muttered to myself while rubbing my arms.

"What was that, Amber?" Aidan asked as he pulled out more of the ski equipment.

I shook my head in reply, "nothing, I'm just regretting not taking my other jackets when you suggested it."

He grinned before diving back into the trunk of the car. I huffed, still feeling extremely cold.

Aidan's head popped back up, clinging a thick sweater in his hands; not just any sweater, though. It was my sweater.

"I love you!" I squealed as I grabbed for it.

He held the article of clothing up above his head, a smirk clearly drawn on his face.

I pouted, "gimme, Aidan..." I scowled at him as I continued to jump for the desired sweater.

"Fine." He finally said as he held down the knit clothe.

I quickly took it from him and slipped my head through the top.

"Amber!" I heard Joanna scream. I turned around just in time to get hit in the face with a bundle of snow.

I rolled my eyes, "very funny."

Joanna is rolling on the ground laughing while I got the rest of my gear on.

We began to walk, or should I say waddle, into the ski resort.

You could hear absolute nothing, that's what happens when you decide to come up here 11 at night...

Just my luck, Jake and Aliah really did show up together. Hand in hand.

"Hey Amber," Jake said whilst smiling. I returned the smile, soon after walking towards Joanna.

"Why is he here?" Joanna asked maniacally.

I slumped over, "He wanted to be, I guess."

Joanna patted my back with her black gloves, "come on, let's go get on a lift."

I faked a smile and followed after her, maybe today could be fun, hopefully.

We were all standing in line at the ski lift, gradually moving along the line of other busy people.

As the line kept moving, I noticed that there were 3 people to a seat, and I also noticed that I was in the same row as Jake and Aliah. Oh Lordy lord.

Finally, we were all standing infront of the ski lifts seat, I wanted to turn back, but it was too late. Now I had to stay here in pure agony, knowing things Jake didn't, many things.

Like I said, pure agony.

"While riding on the ski lift, at first it was extremely awkward. No one made a sound, I think everyone just didn't know what to say."

"I kind of liked the whole, 'I won't speak if you don't speak', thing at least that way I didn't have to talk to either of them. Of course, Aliah has to open her damn mouth and make small talk with Jake. I was basically left on the right side, minding my own business, still feeling super awkward."

Joanna went to open her mouth and interrupt me, but I still had more to say.

"Then," I began, cutting off Joanna, "Jake turned to me and asked me 'how are you?' How am I? Well I don't know, just a teeny weeny big crushed by the fact he started dating one of my best friends and didn't think he had a need to tell me?"

"Well, anyways, I politely responded and told him I was fine. And I think we all know that fine is the universal word for 'I'm not fine at all, you should probably do something about it'. But of course, the embarrassment doesn't stop there, either. He then turned around, as if I hadn't said anything, and asked Joanna how her day was going."

"Totally blowing you off," Joanna added. Thanks.

"Yep. And then they kept taking, leaving me out, it felt like the longest 5 minutes of my life."

Joanna half grinned as she replied, "Well, Atleast no one was purposely pushed off of the ski lift."

I laughed at her statement before rushing down the mountain.

One of the most... Exhilarating experiences I've ever had, and ever will have, are the ones in the mountains.

The fresh air hitting your face as your hair is swept back and brush behind you. The light snow brushing off to the side as you curve to the side, creating little snow mountains. The feeling of triumph while in the air, after jumping off of a ridge.

All of it, it was all amazing.

"Amber!" A desperate voice called out behind me. I abruptly stopped near a snow bank, looking around curiously to pin-point the person calling my name.

"You left me up there, did you not hear me calling a million times out for you?"

Joanna, again. "Yes, well no. I didn't hear you. I was just reminiscing in the fact that being up here, up in the mountains, I feel no regret or sadness. Like nothing is holding me back."

My close friend grinning quizzically before opening her mouth to say, "Um, that's nice and all but Joshua's here. I think Aidan invited him."

My eyes widened as I heard the name that brought much confusion to light. "Wha- why? What does her want now?"

She shook her head, signaling that she knew as much as I did.

"Looks like I'll have to refrain from expressing my views of the mountains, today." I sighed, there was always someone else there, waiting in front of my path to block it. Not letting me through until I had to push them over, making me the bad guy.

I think Joanna decided to drop the subject as we both turned out skis to the side and kept trekking down the mountain.

When had Joshua gotten here? Why was he even here, I thought I gave him all that he wanted... What else did he need?

As more and more questions flooded my mind, I lost track of what I was doing, almost in a zen sort of state.

Except, I sure wasn't feeling the zen in my lower back.

I just wanted to have a nice day of skiing... Why couldn't I have a nice day?

"Amber, we're heading up to the lodge if you want to come up," Aidan yelled down from the ski lift. I rolled my eyes, realizing I was still on my first trip down the mountain.

"Probably should get moving..." I muttered to myself as I began my descent down the mountain.

Short little filler chapter... They next one will probably be a bit short too, but there will be more drama and "information".
