Part 13

As the night stretched thin, nandini sat on the bed, her head rested on the head rest, watching her children sleeping

Her mind wouldn't rest, her mind voice
Manik, they'll see you tomorrow finally. They waited long enough, but you don't even have an idea about them

She exhaled slowly
Maybe we will finally be able to heal each other, all these years felt like walking through a shadow

Later down when
The sky was painted in shades of blue- Grey when namik small hand reached out and shook nandu gently

And manvi said- maa, maa, let's go see papa na
He whispered, voice laced with excitement

Nandini stirred with a soft groan, her head resting against the cushion bedrest, eyelids heavy from a sleepless night. She blinked at the dim light creeping through the curtains.  The clock beside her shows 5.03am

Nandu- you two really aren't going to rest today huh

Namik- we are going to see papa, come on maa

With a sigh and a smile she couldn't hide she said ohk my dear kids let's get ready

As they freshened and came downstairs,  the aroma of spiced parathas and fresh tea hit them like a warm hug. In the kitchen was mukti who was packing food in containers
Abhi was pouring juice into flasks, while rishab stood yawning beside the stack of tiffin boxes rubbing his eyes

Nandu blink in surprise- what is going on here?

Rishab looked up- di it's not my fault, muku di woke me up at 4, she wanted to get everything ready so we can go and have breakfast with manik and cabir

Nandu- you know it's a hospital right

Mukti- it's your own
Abhi chuckle

It was exactly 6am, they slid into abhi car, mukti in front, the rest in the back. The twins pressed their noses to the window, fidgeting like the engine wasn't moving fast

Namik- maa, what if papa doesn't smile when he saw us
The question hung in the air like a held breath

Nandu turned slightly in her seat and face him
Nandu- just because he didn't know your existence all these years doesnt means he wouldn't love you

Manvi- but we never met him and he never met us

Nandu- just call him papa, and that word will mean more to him than it ever has

Manvi- will he look like the photos ?

Rishab- arey he will definitely look just like that, I'm sure

The journey was short in distance but nothing about it felt small
Because some roads lead straight into the heart
