Chapter 16

Nandu,is very strict when it comes to her doctor profession, she gently guided him back into a more comfortable position,  placing a pillow behind his spine, and his feet were stretched out

Nandu- lean back
She murmured with a half smile, adjusting his blanket around his legs

The twins settled to one side of him, and on the other side stood everyone. He noticed 2 faces were missing but said nothing.  There were many emotions already in the room.

He heard Cabir's voice saying- it's real Mukti, Mukti let out a cry that was half sob and half laugh, rushing forward as she gently hugged Manik.

Manik noticed Mukti who was in the arms of Abhi after she hugged Manik.

Manik raised a brow

Abhi chuckled- we are married bro

Manik blinked- oh I missed a few chapters

Just then he heard another voice- so how's life in the hospital, I hate hospitals BTW

Manik looks up. Amused- champ? And you can speak now champ?

Rishab had tears in his eyes- I can do a lot of things now, get well soon and you will get to know about them
He wink

Skipping forward

It had been 2 months since they met Manik, he was in Nandu's home

Manik remembered how the twins were so happy for their birthday, finally a birthday with both their parents, but Navya wasn't there, even Chachi and Chacha was there tho
Nandu had told them that navya was busy with her work and will visit them anytime soon

He smiled as he remembered how they'd burst into the living room that morning wearing matching paper crowns, their grins stretched wider than the sky. The twins didn't let go of him once

He now walks with the help of a cane. It let him drift from one room to another

Tonight, though,was quieter
The moonlight was up. Stars was out
Manvi and Namik were sleeping soundly in manik arms, their fist curled around his shirt.

Abhi and Rishab gently lifted them from Manik- we will take them to their bed

They had their own room but rarely used it. The habit had formed in those years when manik wasn't there when nandini cried herself to sleep. The kids caught her once and never left her side

Manik was now surrounded by mukti, cabir, nandu
Manik look at cabir who nodded

Manik- where are aliya and dhruv

Silence

Nandini didn't look at him, instead she look at mukti to find her looking already at nandu

Manik and cabir saw this
Cabir- they weren't just friend, they were family, so where are they?
