A heavy burden to carry -
A love that's not proffessed.
But the weight of assumed rejection,
Is enough to make anyone feel scared.
All these years have passed now,
And my tongue remains still tied.
All the things I felt before,
they still remain untried.
I smile a little nervously,
as I watch you walk to me.
And I stand still as I see a smile on you,
Something I haven't seen in years.
I open my mouth to say something,
Words I should've said before.
After years of keeping it in,
it's time to tell who it's for.
But I'm surprised, because you cut me off,
And soon I see the reason why.
I see you lead her by the hand,
The girl who makes you smile.
She's pretty and she's funny,
All the things that you deserve
So I do my best to smile happily,
Although my heart's about to burst.
Sometimes, we learn some lessons,
Just before we make a mistake.
