"There was a man I once met, and I fell for him more deeply than I could ever imagine.
I loved everything about him. The way his eyes twinkled, like the most beautiful Georgia stars. The way he laughed, like Christmas bells on a cold December. And the way he smiled, like the person it was directed to was the most beautiful thing he had seen in his life. He loved music, as well. And I took delight in hearing him sing, like every song he sung was only for me.
I know otherwise now.
I wish that I had the courage to tell him all these things, that I had been given a chance to pour my heart out to him.
But sadly, it seemed fate was not on my side.
He left, one chilly January morning, bringing with him his guitar and all the love I had to give. On my kitchen table, there was a note, and I recognized his messy handwriting right away.
He wrote:
I believe that I will someday meet the person meant for me.
The person who makes my heart race, the person who makes me smile.
The person who will sing a song only my heart could hear.
I turned the paper over, and I didn't know that four words can break someone's heart in a way so painfully beautiful that it is enough to reduce them to tears.
You were that person.
Many years have passed since then, but my heart still aches - still yearns - and is still looking for the song it heard a long time ago.
Every morning I wake up, he is the first thing on my mind. And every night, before I surrender to sleep, he is the last thing I am thinking about.
He never came back, but I always hear his voice on the radio, like I always thought I someday would.
Because of him, I had come to learn that we don't always spend the rest of our lives with the person we love the most - the person who the melody of our souls blend with.
But that doesn't mean that our hearts stop singing for each other." - miranda j.
