The first memory I can recall of him...yes I can remember.

I was walking to a new school, a new community, a new life. I had a second chance to do things. I learned from my mistakes and I'm ready to put my knowledge of those mistakes to the test. I walked through the gate as I saw the rest of the fourth graders playing on the pavement. "Those were my new friends." I told myself again and again. I kept walking towards the new school and sat down on a bench by a tree. I looked around and saw all of the other kids playing soccer, but there was one other kid that I saw by the bench left of me. He had dark black hair that went down to his neck, he had a beautiful shade of brown for his....well....eye. He had an eyepatch on his left eye, but other than that he looked like a normal fourth grader at school.

I don't know what it was but something seemed...off, about him. He looked at the other kids playing sports, but it didn't look like he wanted to join them, it looked more like he was looking...looking for someone.

I began to walk up to him, I didn't even look at my surroundings, I just felt like I needed to talk to him.

But of course, SOMETHING had to go wrong. I heard a huge kick and looked around towards the other kids playing soccer. I then saw a ball coming towards my face and before I could react, it hit me on my cheek with enough force to send me to the ground. I looked towards the kids while rubbing the bruise and saw them all laughing. Then the boy with the eyepatch stood up and walked towards the center of me and the other kids.

"Stop." Then he lifted up his eyepatch towards the other fourth graders.

They then all stopped laughing and looked at where he lifted up the eyepatch from. They looked like they were being hypnotised, but before I could walk around him to look, the eyepatch was back on. He looked at me and said "I don't think they're gonna bother you much more." He then smiled and looked at me cheerfully.

"Th-thanks..." I said, he then began to walk towards the fourth grade classroom and looked at me again. "Aren't you coming to class? The bell just rang." I looked around and saw all of the kids scrambling into their classrooms. "O-Oh yeah." I followed him into our fourth grade classroom where all of the kids were trying to get to the desks closest to their friends, we were the last ones to sit down where we conveniently sat next to each other.

"Class we have two new students." My teacher said. "Kai and Haru can you please come up." Me and the boy with the eyepatch stood up and headed towards the teacher's desk. After we introduced ourselves to the class we went to sit back down. "I hope you treat these new students with hospitality."

After that, she introduced herself "My name is Mrs. Jules, and I will be your teacher for this year."

We listened to Mrs. Jules talk about Math, History and English for the rest of the school day.

"Ok Class, you may pick up your bags and leave now." She then unlocked the door and opened it. "Have a good day."

As I waited for all of the kids to exit the classroom so I could leave (I don't like getting stepped on, thank you) I saw Haru looking down at his desk with a look of disappointment. I wanted to know what he was thinking but I didn't want to ask. After all of the kids left except for Haru and I, I started to pick up my backpack and headed towards the door. However Haru didn't leave either. "Aren't you gonna go home?" I asked. He quickly looked up with shock. "Wha-" but before Haru could finish his sentence he shook his head. "Yeah I'm coming." He picked up his backpack and quickly went out the door with me following him. We saw that all of the kids had gone in a rush to get home. When we went out the gate we looked at eachother. "Um.. I guess I never said my name...It's Kai." I said, "Oh yeah, Haru." We shook hands and said goodbye to each other.

That was the first time I met the person who would eventually give me so many memories, good and bad.
