Breaks:

[L1,2 or 3] represents the beginning of a flashback to one of Elena's past lives. There is more than one past life, which is why they're numbered. Though, these memories are usually told as she sleeps and Elena herself cannot remember them.

[/L1,2 or 3] represents the end of a flashback to one of Elena's past lives.

[P] represents the beginning of a retelling of a memory in Elena's current life.

[/P] represents the end of a retelling of a memory in Elena's current life.

~3~ is just a timeskip

A/N: Earlier than I said, but yeah. I've tried to add fluff guys. Fluff. Tell me if I succeeded?

___________

'Seasickness'. That's what Evangeline called it. Being motion-sick while at sea.

It wasn't fun.

After a while of staying on deck but not getting better, Yugo portaled me below to a room everyone collectively called the 'sleeping cabin'. It was the second largest room on the ship- the first Yugo told me was the kitchen- so everyone could share it at night for sleeping. Hammocks hung off the walls in here, one on top of the other, in four separate rows. It was there where I found my only moment of levity.

Which was why I was then stuck in a hammock. There I could sway because I moved- which was much better than moving because the ship swayed.

Since I didn't want to move from the hammock unless it was absolutely necessary, that was where I lived through the ride on the ship. Or, at least, it would have been if the idea of it hadn't been so mind numbingly boring. Never before had I been forced to stay so still for so long.

I hated it.

Unable to explore, to move around for myself, enjoy the salty breeze outside of the stale room I was in, feel the sun on my skin. Barely half a day went by like that and I already felt stir-crazy despite the terrible lightheadedness and nauseating dizziness that followed if I got off the hammock.

(Yugo said my misery reminded him of a fish caught in a net. I used my portals to soak him in sea water for the remark. He didn't seem to mind the sudden shower after he got over the shock of it. We both got a laugh out of it.)

So I didn't bother with staying still. Instead I'd opened up my bag with the sort of determination that I had usually gotten when I was in the middle of some sort of crisis that needed to be solved- while this usually happened during the Frost on the island, I didn't consider my current situation any less dire.

I needed to get out of this room.

Thankfully Yugo was happy to be enlisted in helping me achieve this goal. He brought me the plants that we had gathered together and I prepared some of them for drying in the sun.

These were plants that Yugo had known for cooking purposes only. Of them, I did know of a few for sure that would help me. The one Yugo told me was lemon-scented for example, and the other that grew tiny red fruits (which I had originally thought were just for birds since Moon never bothered with them) Yugo called raspberries.

In the meantime, I rummaged through my bag for plants that I had packed during my hazy, hasty, morning panic just before the Summit Tree burned. Somehow I had managed to pack a little bit of everything. Given the state of all my carefully gathered plants, the dried, the sorted, even the ones already made into medical mixtures- well I was glad to have even a little bit of all my hard work.
