"I still can't believe you got a job here! You used to be a patient. Why would you want a job?" Calum asked me on the way to work.

"It was a good paying job," I respond.

"And Ashton is there?"

"Yes and maybe it's because Ashton is there. I just want to be able to help him, ya know?" I shrug.

"Yeah sure. You just want to be able to hangout with Ashton."

"Shut up, Calum I do not. I want to help him and the other patients. You know how much I love psychology and how much I love helping people."

"That's true. Anyways, is it ok if I come in with you? I want to visit Ashton."

"Sure that's fine. Thanks for taking me, by the way," I smile at Calum as he parks his car.

"Anytime, Heather."

He opens the door for me and we walk up to the asylum. Calum signs in at the front desk as I wait by the stairs for him.

"Are you nervous for your first day?" Calum asks.

"Not really. Just a little bit though, but you know Luke, he's so laid back."

"Yeah. Ok well I'll be with Ashton have a good day!" He pulls me into a hug then hurries off in the opposite direction.

I walk down the long hallway to Luke's office, knocking before entering.

"Come in," he says.

"Hello Luke!"

"Heather! You don't have to knock, you can just come in from now on unless it's a time I'm supposed to have a patient," he informs me.

"Ok sounds good."

"Excited for your first day?"

"Kind of yeah. What are we doing today?"

"We had a few group sessions and then some individuals. Yes, Ashton will be coming in today. There are some things I need to warn you about first," he pauses.

"Warm me about?" I ask confused.

"Well, yes. How long has it been since you've visited him?"

"About 6 months I think."

"He's gotten worse since then."

I gasp, "worse? How is that even possible ."

"I'm not quite sure. I'm hoping you can help me figure that out. I would like you to go over his file really quick before our first session comes. She should be coming in at 9:30. It's a young girl with schizophrenia," he hands me Ashton's file.

"Ok thank you Luke. I'll get right on that," I nod as I go across his newly expanded room and begin to read Ashton's file.

Most of the things in it I knew. I knew about his past, his multiple personality disorder, his incident with his father. His file had all the people who have visited and on what dates. Towards the beginning, I was the only one visiting him. I remember visiting him on a weekly bases. The file seems to show that he started getting better, having less outbursts. Everything seemed to change on a certain day, February 25th. Michael visited him that day.

"Hey Luke?" I ask.

"Yeah."

"Do you know what Michael might've said to Ashton when he visited him on February 25th?"

"No he wouldn't tell me, but I remember it made him very angry. That was one of his worst days," he sighs.

I sigh back, "ok thanks."

A few weeks after Michael visited him, I visited him for the last time, March 10th. I continued to read the notes after that day. They're were barely any. Ashton hadn't been talking to Luke, of anyone for that matter.

"Why hasn't Ashton been talking to anyone?" I ask.

"Nobody knows. One day he just stopped talking. It was like someone flipped a switch in him and turned the life off in him. They day you visited him last he was in here for a group session and he just sat in the corner, carving something in the floor over there. That might have something to do with it. Go look," Luke tells me pointing to the opposite side of the room.

I walk over and bend down, rubbing my fingers over the words etched into the floor.

She's gone.

Sorry this is a short chapter, but don't worry they will be getting longer! I'm just getting started

So I don't really know where I want this story to go....I have some ideas but not a lot. I have up till like chapter 10 lol. If any of you have any good ideas let me know!
