It was raining, in a very cliché manner, on the day of Alice Potter's funeral.
The day it happened, just three weeks ago, James was livid. If he would have been able to find the rat then and there, he would have.
He would have gone after him and murdered the slimy git for killing his daughter, one of his four pride and joys, in cold blood.
Alice's friends from America came to the funeral. She was very popular.
Everyone kept saying how nice and sweet she was. How she always had time for everyone. Not just her friends.
Harry was jealous of the fact that all of these people knew his little sister and he didn't. They never got the chance to have a sibling fight. They never got the joy of Christmas together. They never shared their birthday together. So many things left unsaid. So many hopes and dreams that the lively young girl had, died with her.
The worst part was that she did not just have the killing curse put on her. No. It couldn't be that simple. As simple as a painless death.
She had to be crucioed first. She had to suffer.
Just then, the minister came up to the podium to begin the ceremony.
"We are gathered here today on a terrible and tragic occasion. The funeral of Alice Potter.
The young girl had so much spunk. So much life. That it was not fair for her to die this way.
But, the Lord works in strange ways. We can thank the Lord that she is no longer suffering. That she may truly rest in peace.
So, though we will grieve, we must also rejoice in the life she has lived.
Although it was short, she lived a wonderful life that touched the heart of many people. May she forever know of what she has accomplished in life, so that she may be satisfied in death. "
With that, the minister ended his speech. Not one person held a dry eye.
The one who was torn apart the most was not Lily Potter.
No. It was Harry.
He kept telling himself that if he would have died the first time, or the second, or the third, then Alice would be alive and in America. She would be happy.
But, because of Harry, she was dead and the whole family was suffering.
For the first time in a long time, since he started Hogwarts, Harry felt that he deserved every punishment that he had every gotten from his aunt and uncle.
Maybe he should have stayed under the stairs.
I don't own the video. The video is See You Again. I couldn't have this chapter without that song so there you go.
