I sat in the back of the police truck as we drove through town to a crime scene. Kagari and I have been kicking each other's feet for the past few minutes and I could practically see the veins popping on Kogami's forehead from anger, even in the darkness.

I kicked Kagari's foot one more time, fairly hard, and it hit Kogami in the leg.

"Would you two quit it already?!" He said, kicking us both in the leg.

"Ow! Kogami, that was mean!" I complained, rolling down one of my high socks to see if he left a mark. "This is so gonna be a bruise later on. You should just be glad that I can cover it up easily," I scowled at him.

I could see the cheeky look on Kagari's face as he watched me roll my sock down my leg. "Hey! This isn't the time nor place, Shusei!" I almost yelled, kicking him hard in the shin.

"Would you two just give it a rest already? You're giving me a headache..." Masaoka began rubbing his temples as he watched me and Kagari continue to kick at each other.

"Pervert," I mumbled, crossing my arms and legs and leaning back. We knew that we'd be at the crime scene soon, so we all calmed down and waited for the truck to stop. That didn't stop the slight tapping of Kagari's foot on mine though. Idiot.

The truck stopped and the doors opened. For a second, the only thing I could hear was the rain hitting the ground as it thundered down, and the feeling of the rain splashing on my legs dampening my socks and boots made shivers go through my body. Why did I choose to sit closer to the door?

Kagari stood up and began walking out. I followed close behind him, pulling my hood over my head so that I wouldn't get as wet. I heard footsteps behind me as Masaoka and Kogami followed us out of the truck and under the police tent that shielded us from the rain. I pulled my hood down and stood quietly, watching the inspectors as they spoke. Kogami and Masaoka were acting normal, as usual, but Kagari was being an idiot already. He was staring off into the distance with both arms behind his head in an awkward looking stance.

"You said we were getting a rookie but you didn't say that she would be so cute!" Kagari exclaimed, finally looking over in the newbies direction. He had a ridiculous smile on his face accompanied by a faint blush.

"This is inspector Akane Tsunimori." Hearing her own name, the girl began to stand somewhat awkwardly, as if she was a soldier waiting to salute someone. "From today on, you'll know her as your second owner." Ginoza said to the four of us.

"Uh... It's a pleasure to meet you!" She said nervously as she bowed her head to us. Kagari looked somewhat proud of himself as the rest of us paid no mind to them.

Ignoring her, Ginoza continued to speak. "I'm assuming you've already been briefed on the targets data, right?" He asked. "He's backed himself into a corner and we're gonna tighten the noose." He said simply.

"We'll split into two groups and zero in." He said, trying to get our attention again after Akane stopped bowing.

"Kana, Kagari, you're with me. The other two, you're with inspector Tsunimori." Hearing this, Kagari stopped waving at her like a dumbass and turned to Gino, an annoyed look on his face. I agreed simply, but he argued.

"Aww, why do they get the babe and I'm stuck with your ugly mug!?" He exclaimed, to which Gino gave him a deadly look. "Psh, that guy has no sense of humour..." Kagari complained.

"That's because he knows you're not joking," I said while trying to hold back my laughter.

We all proceeded to grab our dominators and Kagari walked off, teasing the girl while he was doing so. I followed silently while attempting to kick the back of his leg, but he caught me and managed to dodge me every time. He began laughing and dancing around like an idiot, making fun of me for not being able to hit him.

"At least I'm not the shit head with a pink tie and socks," I snickered. "Hey! They're red!" He defended.

"No, they're pink. That," I pointed to the red lights on the box that carries our dominators, "is red." I continued to poke fun at him until Gino got mad and practically pulled us by the ears towards the buildings behind us. We passed a few people but eventually got to the quiet and abandoned alley ways and buildings where we sectioned off.

Kagari signalled for me and Gino to go one way while he split off in a different direction. We stayed quiet and Gino followed me while we checked around for the latent criminal.

"Come in, this is hound 4. I found the target on the fourth floor of KT building. What are your orders?" Kagari asked Gino.

"Okay, hold your position and keep an eye on him, hound 2 and I will box him in," Ginoza replied as we both began running in the direction that Kagari and told us to go to.

"Sure, although, considering how worked up he is right now, I dunno if the hostage is gonna make it that long..." Kagari informed us. Well shit. "Want me to go ahead and capture him?" Kagari asked in a somewhat cocky tone.

"Fine, but don't mess it up," Ginoza instructed him. We made it to the room soon after and saw Kagari squatting in an awkward position on the floor.

"Kagari? What the hell are you doing?!" Ginoza yelled at him. "Paralyser didn't work, he's gotta be hyped up on stimulants or something." He said in a worried tone.

Kagari aimed his dominator at the man again and I saw it change to lethal eliminator mode. Man, I haven't had to see that since... Since I shot that woman dead with... With Sasayama.

The man panicked and grabbed the hostage before running and jumping through the window. Kagari and I ran towards the now broken window and looked out.

"Shit." Kagari and I said in unison and we began running out of the building to chase him. We kept running in between and around buildings until I heard Kogami's voice. "This is hound three. Elimination complete." Kagari and I stopped running and sat down for a moment to catch our breaths.

Ginoza finally caught up and we began jogging towards where Kogami and Masaoka were. Gino used their GPS signals to track where they were and we continued to follow the signal. We ended out in a large room filled with shipment containers.

We began hearing screaming, probably from the hostage, and ran towards the noise. "Please, put down the lighter. Just put down the lighter and everything will be alright." We heard Akane's voice as we climbed on top of one of the larger crates to assess the situation from above.

I saw a small light go out and the girl appeared to have calmed down. All three of us were aiming our dominators at her, but Ginoza was the one to shoot. She was paralysed and fell to the ground. We were officially done here. I just hope that Gino goes easy on the new girl.
