Katherine's POV (2 months ago)

I changed into black robes and put the hood over my face and put on a simple glamour spell. I painted my lips bright red and left the house.

I made sure no one was around before apparating right outside of Hogwarts borders.

I shot a quick spell that would weaken them long enough for me to pass.

I walked hurriedly towards the door and snuck in. I went towards the large stone gargoyles and made them move apart silently as it was the middle of the night.

I ran up the stairs two at a time, my cloak billowing behind me.

The door creaked as I opened it and I made sure no one was inside and placed a silencing charm and a repellent one.

I checked in the many cabinets and drawers but found nothing. I sighed and took one of the candies he had in a bowl.

My hands touched something hard and I threw all of the candies on the floor but they wouldn't budge. I tried spells but nothing would work.

I groaned in frustration when I realized that I would have to eat them. Dumbledore thinks he's so funny.

I took the candies and put them in my mouth and ate them all but more would keep appearing.

In my anger, I made the bowl explode and the candies scurried away. I picked up the crystal ball which was slightly cracked and rubbed it.

No image came up but black and silver smoke twirled inside and a raspy voice croaked out the prophecy.

"I speak of a girl
with bright red hair
get her to like you
pretend to care

for if not
you shall die
no worse than death
is where your destiny lies"

I stared in horror at the small blue orb that just told me what was to happen. "Guess we have to do a bit of work then eh?" I said to no one in particular.

I heard the door being opened and quickly made myself invisible. I stood in the doorway and watched McGonagall break through the spells. Vanessa and Draco were right behind her.

I watched them as she looked at the smashed bowl of candies and look around the office frantically.

"Oh no, oh no." I heard her muttering and I tried my best not to laugh.

"What's wrong?" Vanessa asked. McGonagall didn't answer and I swept out of the room. I heard her answer faintly.

"The prophecy" McGonagall answered. "What do you mean?" Draco asked this time.

"It's gone. The prophecy is gone."

Third Person POV (Present Day)

"There will be a Halloween Ball this Friday. Corsets must be worn. I noticed a serious lack of them in the last ball. I will assign a small group of students to put it together. It will be the same people as last time and I hope you have a wonderful time." McGonagall sat down and the food appeared.

"Did you hear that?! Another Ball!" Astoria screamed. "We should make it a masquerade." Hermione said.

Astoria swallowed her food before answering. "Totally. Who are you going with?"

Hermione blushed and sneaked a glance toward Draco who was talking to Blaise. Astoria noticed and nudged her.

"Awwww. He should ask you out." Hermione just blushed even more and said nothing.

"Should the decorations be spooky or like elegant?" Hermione asked, changing the subject.

Astoria thought for a moment before answering. "Elegant. It should be like... when you go in, you like traveled back in time."

"What year?" Hermione asked.

"Late 1400s."

Hermione made a face. "Big poofy dresses?"

"I think we could take off the big and poofy part but it does have to be like elegant. Diamonds, Rubies, Emeralds, any other gems."

Hermione nodded. "Wanna go get our corsets and skirts?" Astoria stood up and Hermione grabbed her hand and they apparated.

"You do realize that we are skipping class." Hermione shrugged.

They went into Fleur's shop and Astoria picked out a light teal corset that had streaks of green along the sides and a skirt that matched the corset which had green flowers etched alone the bottom.

Hermione looked through the corsets and settled on a baby blue one that had navy lace along the top and bottom. Her skirt was also baby blue and had navy lace that covered the skirt and sapphires placed randomly on top of the lace.

Astoria looked for a mask and found one that had crystals that covered the whole thing and it was silver. Hermione chose one that was dark blue with black lace and a feather.

"Let's try it all on." Astoria suggested and they went to the changing rooms.

Astoria looked great and the color looked really good on her. "You look great. Blaise will love it."

Astoria twirled in front of the mirror. "I hope so."

Hermione went to change and came out. "You look great!! Look at yourself!!" She did as Astoria said and looked in the mirror.

Hermione looked beautiful. She put on the mask and looked at herself. Now, the corset was loose.

On the day of the ball, it would have to be tight. They went to pay for their things. Hermione paid 70 galleons and left the shop.

They bumped into Blaise and Draco on their way out. "Hey." Astoria said.

"Vanessa?" Draco asked her. "Yes?"

"W-W-Will you go to the ball with me?" Hermione pretended to think about it just to tease him.

"Yes."
