Ball part 2

Hermione walked through the door and into the great hall. It all looked perfect and she saw Luna talking to a butterfly.

She chuckled silently to herself.

Harry was by the refreshments table with Ginny.

"Welcome everyone to the Reminiscence Ball." McGonagall announced. Each one of you has been assigned a person and shall dance to honor them" A couple people applauded.

"Thank you. I'm sure you know who that is but if you don't just ask me. I'm going to get the music set up. Just give me one second"

Astoria bounds up to her with Blaise. "Hey Vane!"

"Hi!" She hugged Astoria. "Are you having fun?"

"Lots!" she smiles up at Blaise.

"It's all set up. A-M on the floor please"

Astoria and Blaise left her as they were dancing for Moody. Hermione was actually dancing for Tonks.

It made her sad. Thinking about the deceased, so instead, she took to watching the people dance.

They glided along the floor with such ease and grace and it made her jelous.

She would never glide through the air like and eagle or even walk through the halls the way Ginny did.

With her head held high, perfect posture, and how she walked. Well, when Ginny walked she looked like a ballerina. With such grace and beauty.

Once upon a time, that had been her best friend. But this was different now. She was a Slytherin and Ginny was in Gryffindor.

You can't change that.

So deep did she dwell into her thoughts that she did not notice McGonagall calling N-Z. Nor when a figure standing beside her.

They cleared their throat and she snapped back into reality. It was Draco Malfoy.

"Do you want to dance?" he asked her.

"Sure!" she smiled and took his outstretched hand. "Who are you dancing for?"

"Lupin. You?"

"Tonks"

"I knew we were meant to be" he smirked slightly.

The music started and Hermione didn't even notice as he led her along the dance floor. Not even when all the couples had gone, leaving them center stage.

She was on cloud nine.

When the music stopped, she looked around. Everyone was staring at them open mouthed.

Draco was bowing and smirking as he led a stunned Hermione off the floor.

"Did you have fun?" he asked, pulling her closer.

She blushed. "Yes"

He leaned in close to her ear and her heart thudded loudly. She was afraid he would hear it.

"Your brother's staring" he said and he kissed her full on the lips. Right there. In front of everyone.

It was so full of hope and desire and she almost forgot who it was. He pulled away from her and she felt cold. She needed more.

He smirked and stroked her hair lightly. "That's all you get for today"

She tried not to look dejected. "Wanna get something to drink?"

She followed him to the table where Blaise and Astoria met them. "OMG! THAT WAS INCREDIBLE! YOU GUYS WERE LIKE," she did some weird dance moves then.

"Are you dating now?" Blaise asked them timidly.

Draco put a protective arm around her shoulders. "It's all for the show"

"Can I have a word" Harry asked suddenly. Draco and Hermione turned around at the same time.

"Alone?"

"One second" she whispered to Draco and followed Harry to the opposite end of the room.

"You're dating Malfoy?!?!"

She hesitated for a second. "Yes." "Y-y-yes I am" she stuttered.

She walked away from him. Away from the party. And to the balcony. Where she'd have peace and quiet.
