Hermione's hair
Hermione looked at the blue dress in the mirror. Her eyes moved up to her face. Her hair was a dark blonde, having taken Astoria's potion. Her hair was perfection.
It fell around her shoulders in an angelic sort of way. Her eyes soft and her mouth a light pink.
Her eyes made their way down yet again to look at her shoes. Light blue colored heels. They weren't tall but just enough to elevate her to the size of almost everyone else.
She had decided to keep her jewelry simple. A bracelet of pearls with a small snake etched carefully into each one.
She turned slowly to look at Astoria. She wore her coral dress and wore some golden ballet flats seeing as she was pretty tall. She decided that the coral one looked better instead of the pink one.
"You look beautiful" Astoria said. "Do you have a date?"
Hermione sighed. "No."
Astoria frowned. "The ball is in like 1 hour you know?"
Hermione looped her arm through Astoria's and pretended as if she hadn't spoken at all. They walked out but Astoria stopped at the top of the stairs.
Hermione squeezed her hand reassuringly.
The girls walked down the stairs to find the common room empty.
They sat gingerly on the lone couch that sat there, facing the fake fire that crackled behind the curtain of chains.
"Have you ever tried roasted marshmallows?" Hermione asked. Astoria shook her head.
Suddenly, the lights went off in the common room. Hermione moved closer to the fire as it was the only source of light. But even that, went out.
Hermione sat on the floor in a fetal position. She had always been terrified of the dark and the war had not helped.
This was her method of how to survive. Curl into a ball and close your eyes and wait.
She felt Astoria's familiar touch on her back. Comforting. "Vanessa" she said. "I'm going to get my wand. I'll be right back."
She felt the hand slide off her but another one replaced it quickly. The strong hands picked her up and carried her next to the nonexistent fire.
She heard spells being casted and soon, the back of her eyelids turned red. Hermione slowly opened her eyes.
The fire was crackling merrily but the rest of the common room was dark.
She sat up and saw a person sitting infront of her. But it wasn't Astoria. It was Draco.
"W- What are you doing?" she asked.
He put his mouth next to her ear to whisper something and she sat, frozen as a statue.
"Without light, there can't be darkness. Without darkness, there can't be light."
He moved away and she stared at his grey eyes. Dark and mysterious. Holding secrets and answers to questions she had never even dreamed of. As if by some weird impulse, she leaned forward, and kissed him.
They kissed for about 10 seconds but it felt like years to Hermione. The kiss was soft and sweet.
When they pulled away, Hermione widened her eyes in shock. She had kissed Draco Malfoy. Her sworn enemy since she was 11. What would Harry think?
But she knew, and it made her feel terrible, that some part of her liked it.
Draco, had forgotten that she was Potter's sister. She looked just like Hermione with her hair like that.
He had always wanted to kiss her, but now... It felt weird. Wrong.
They scooted away from each other. Draco stood up and ran out the door. Hermione just sat there as the lights turned back on.
