𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐒 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓 now—emptier, quieter, the ruins of Onyx's rule still hanging in the air like dust that refused to settle. The family stood in the center of the underground hall, shadows cast long across the concrete floor. Hartley hovered behind Eva, glancing nervously at the old villain tech that still hummed in the corners. Aveline stood close to Colby, her arms folded tightly, trying to ignore the cold prickle running up her spine.

The soldier who had bowed before Amy and Aveline moments earlier had vanished down a corridor, leaving behind a silence thick enough to choke on.

"So just like that," Jake said slowly, pointing between Amy and Aveline, "Havoc is the new leader of all villains... and Aveline is the Angel of Death co-leader?"

He let out a strangled laugh. "Yeah, okay. Cool. Sure. Why not. Totally normal day."

Colby stepped forward. "Jake—"

"No, no, nope, don't try to sugarcoat this," Jake said with wide eyes. "I mean this sincerely: that is hysterical."

Amy's eyebrows shot up. "Why is it hysterical?"

Jake gestured at her wildly. "No offense, sis, but you're already a walking explosion of bad decisions. Throw in leadership and we might as well start digging doomsday bunkers."

Chaos snorted. "He's not wrong."

Aveline stiffened. "Wow. Okay. And what about me?"

Chaos shrugged. "I mean... you fainted on day one."

Aveline's eyes narrowed. "My blood sugar was low."

"Still fainted," he replied, raising both hands defensively. "Just stating facts."

Colby stepped in immediately, voice low, protective. "She fainted because she used her powers to save all of us from Onyx while almost dying. Maybe remember that part."

Aveline glanced up at him, touched despite her irritation.

Eva crossed her arms. "Jake, show some support for your sister. And Aveline literally saved our lives."

Jake shrugged. "We're all thinking it. I'm just the one saying it."

Amy's jaw dropped. "You don't think I can do it, do you?"

"Did the whole 'unpredictable mess' speech not make that clear?" Chaos replied.

Hartley whispered loudly, "I'm terrified just thinking about it."

Aveline rolled her eyes. "Great. Confidence is just pouring out of this room."

Hartley blinked at her. "No—I mean—I'm terrified because now Aveline has a title that literally sounds like she reads souls for breakfast."
