One day

"Y/n, did you see my mobile? I don't know where I left it," Appa said while searching over the coffee table, sofa, and even under the furniture.

"Appa, not again," she said, making a face.

"What happened now?" Appa asked in confusion.

"Did you put your phone on silent or vibrate mode? I was trying to ring it, but I couldn't hear the tone," she said after trying three times to call him.

"Maybe I was watching a movie last night, so..." Appa explained and continued his search.

"Did you check your bedroom?" she asked.

"I did, but would you mind rechecking it for me? Till then, I'll check here," Appa said, and she went upstairs.

He kept searching for his mobile, opening the drawers one by one. Then, he opened a drawer and found a small wrapped box. He immediately opened it and found the watch Y/n had bought for him. He looked at it and understood why Y/n hadn't given him the present she had bought.

"Appa, look here. It's under your pillow, right where you used to sleep," she said, coming downstairs. Mr. Lee was looking at her, and she noticed he had found the watch.

"Did you buy this for me?" Appa asked showing her the watch.

"Yes," she replied in a soft, low tone.

"Then why didn't you give it to me that day?" Appa asked.

"I didn't want to upset you," she said, looking down.

"I always hurt you unintentionally," Appa said, looking at her.

"No, Appa. You never hurt me," she said and placed her hand over his hand.

"Now, tie this." Appa said and handed her the new watch.

"So, you'll be wearing two watches from now on?" She asked in confusion.

"No, you bought it for me, so it's only mine. And this one is for my future son-in-law. I gave it to Taehyung," Appa said proudly. She helped him put on the watch and looked down without expression.

"No, there's no need for that. You can exchange it for a different colour or model and keep both of them," she said with a faint smile.

"Can I ask you something?" Appa said, and she looked at him, forcing a smile.

"Yes," she said.

"Did you guys fight?" Appa asked and she shake her head to no without looking him. "Since I announced your engagement, you don't seem happy," Appa asked and waited for her answer. She took a deep breath, sighed, and finally broke the silence.

"Appa, I like him, but only as a friend. I don't want to marry him," she said and looked at him.

"Why didn't you say anything that day?" Appa asked.

"You never asked for my consent; you asked him to marry me." She sighs.

"Oh no... I am so, so sorry. How could I have been so foolish?" Appa said, and realized his mistake.

"I think you got scared after your unwanted hospital visit." She said.

"You're right, but I'm sorry. It's my fault, and I'm going to make it all right. But first, do you like someone?" Appa asked. She grew anxious and excited at the same time. Part of her wanted to tell her father everything, but another part didn't want to risk his health. She retook a deep breath.
