6. the problem with hope

I woke up after the whole Ignis fiasco about three days later.
Adam had kept me under with some drugs. I had slept out the worse of the pain. Adam and seth were by my side when i woke up.
"Welcome back from the deep end. Seth grinned. He wasnt wearing his mask and so under the effects of the fog in my head I figured that Samantha was no were near here.
" is my acting career over?" I asked and tried to reach for my face.

"No, its not" Adam rolled his eyes, but Seth got me a mirrow to look at my face.
It was pretty much the same. But something was wrong.....my hair was short. Seth must have seen the surprise in my eyes because he pat my shoulder and told me to rest and that I had burnt out most of my hair and so, Meg had cut it short. Really short.
I nodded and allowed my self to rest in the bed I was in.
I looked around for the first time.
I was in my own room. It smelled of me, but there was an alien air and it was probably because of the unfamiliarity of the heart rate monitor and the medical apparatus surrounding me.
"Want me to go call the girls?" Seth asked
"Yeah, thanks" I said. Talking was uncomfortable, my voice was strange and raspy. Probably because of the drugs Adam was pumping into my system or the heat of the ignis's powers.
"Have you figured it out Adam?" I asked Adam, who was still in the room by my bed side.
"Figured what out?" He asked
"About Samantha" I said " she and her Ignis form are two very different people."
"Yes I know" Adam said "we were surprised about that but what is baffling me the most is the fact that she isn't dead yet"
I raised a brow.
" the epidemic kills within a month" Adam explained "she's still alive"
I nodded, agreeing.
"What do you think about it?" We asked each other in unison.
Adam nodded and I fought the childish urge to say jinx!
"I think she is infected but her system is some how subduing it" Adam said
" or, maybe, she is a super who has been affected" I contributed.
"That's impossible, or else well all be sick!" Adam's eyes widened
"Who says we aren't" I said.
He nodded, signaling an end to our discussion as the others came into the room.
"Hey, big brother" Meg smiled
I rolled my eyes playfully " I'm not your brother"
"But you're pretty close" she said and kissed me on the cheek.
Violet had a smile on her face and a card at hand.
" hey there you" she said and gave me the card.
You are a super superhero! It read. I smiled at how cheesy it was.
"Thanks violet" I smiled.
"Someone wanted to see you" Meg said edging towards the door to usher in who ever it was.
I raised a brow.
"Come on. He won't bite you" Meg said "come in, he can't even walk"
She walked back in with Samantha and my heart nearly flat lined.(seriously, there was a heart monitor there!)
She was wearing a blue t-shirt and short shorts with a big button up short sleeved shirt over it all and tied at her stomach.

"Hey" she stuttered. I could tell she had been dreading this day, she may have been preparing herself for the awkwardness of this moment and I could tell that she was confused on whether to call me steel or Tucker.
I could also tell that she was living her fantasy. Her towns hero just happens to be her favourite actor and she has been living under his roof for about two months.
So every one was out with there identities, huh? No one was wearing a mask even as Samantha was here.

"How are you feeling?" She asked and I didn't say a thing.
" I bet he's feeling a bit over cooked" Seth popped in, grinning(that wasn't something you see every day)

"Seth!" Violet gave him a punch in the face, which he didn't even flinch to.
"I think you're taking your punching privileges too far" Seth smiled mischievously.
"There's no such thing!" Violet retorted
"Guys stop shouting, you'll give Tucker a head ache" Meg groaned
"I think he's been through more than a head ache" Adam cut in
"Who are you to talk?!"Meg grit her teeth
"A doctor slash scientist slash Tucker's best bud slash super hero"Adam spat out
" im his cousin! Beat that"Meg retorted
"Wow, miss cousin with out me tucker might have died!"adam
"You are so insensitive!"meg
"Why does the truth do that?!"adam
"Do what huh?"meg
"Bitch slap people like you in the face"adam
"Adam I will take you and throw you all the way to Antarctica" Meg said
"No wonder you've got no brains,the only thing you have in your skull is muscle!" Adam said
