“Sorry if it’s a mess, I don’t think anyone has actually cleaned up for a while,” Andy said while leading me down his street.
“That’s perfectly fine,” I said, even though I really can’t stand messes.
Even though I knew he was the Andy living in the same house I was, it was still a bit of a disappointment when he turned onto the walkway of that house.
“Your house is very nice,” I said politely.
“Thanks,” he said chuckling. Maybe he thought I was lying?
I smiled at him as he opened the door to his house and ushered me in. I pretended to look around and act like I had never seen it before.
“It’s not too messy,” I lied. I could have easily made that house a very nice place to live if he had me clean it a little. I knew I couldn’t ask right away though, that would probably be a little creepy.
“Thanks for lying!” he said happily as he led me through a homey living room and into a nice kitchen.
“You want any snacks or anything?” he asked me while opening a cabinet. He pulled out all sorts of snack foods and placed them on the counter.
“No thank you,” I said. Eating in front of people wasn’t very polite unless you were having a meal at the table.
“Come on, if we’re gonna be friends you can’t be shy; especially with eating! Sometimes you just gotta pig out with me,” Andy scolded while getting out some bowls and pouring the snacks into them. I couldn’t help but laugh a little.
“Okay, okay, I’ll have some snacks.”
“Good!” he gave me a big smile and grabbed three of the bowls. “Can you grab the rest? We can hang out in my room if you want. Or we can stay down here?”
“Your room is perfectly fine.”
I then realized that he may think that I was a ‘bad girl’ or something. I mean I was home alone with a guy I just met and I had accepted an invitation to his room. I think he saw my hesitation.
“Don’t worry we’re just gonna watch a movie or something,” he laughed. I smiled at him and we made our way into his familiar room. For me it was kind of awkward but considering he had no idea all of my stuff was in his attic or that my iPod was right behind his television, he was perfectly fine.
We put the bowls on the table and sat on the couch. He grabbed the controller and turned on the TV.
“I would play a video game with you but I don’t want you to see that side of me yet.”
“Competitive?” I questioned, glancing into his brown eyes. He winked and looked back to the TV, his smile never fading. “You don’t seem like you would get mad playing video games.”
“Not mad, just a trash talker. I can’t help it, I just get way too into them!”
“Oh I see, I’ve only played a few times; I don’t know if I trash talk.”
He looked at me with his eyes wide and his mouth open. He just stared at me like that for about a minute.
“What?”
“HOW HAVE YOU LIVED WITHOUT VIDEO GAMES!?” he burst out. I jumped and laughed.
“You know, I eat then I sleep, and I move around sometimes.”
“Oh my Lord, we are having a 24 hour video game party sometime soon, you obviously have not lived.”
I rolled my eyes at him and he shook his head, smiling once again.
