I woke up to the sound of a rooster and quickly realized that I was still at the Duke farm. I fixed myself up then grabbed my boots and headed towards the kitchen. A chorus of good mornings rang out once I stepped out of my room. "Morning y'all and I thought I'd be the first one up." I joked. "Y'all need me to help you out with anything since you've been so kind as to let me stay here." "No Luke and me's about to go fix the fence on the south 40 and Daisy's just starting breakfast." Bo replied as they walked out the door. I sat down at the table next to Jessie.
"There must be something I can do."
"Well sugar after breakfast you can go into town with the boys and pick up some things from Mr. Ruhebottom's store. I was going to go but I have to be at the Boars Nest early" Daisy said.
"Sounds good say what's the boars nest?"
"It just a bar run by that dirty lowdown J.D. Hogg" Jessie stated. "Hmm J. D. Hogg is he like the town commissioner or something?"
"Yeah and he owns just about everything in Hazzard County except this farm and he ain't ever going to neither."
"Well looks like I might pay a visit to this Hogg fellow I've got a few questions for him."
"That ain't a good idea. He's a rotten liar that's always up to no good."
I laughed,"that's exactly why I want to see him maybe I can work out some kinda deal with him and his sheriffs"
"Honey now what problem is so bad that you need those two fools to help you with?" Daisy staid. "Could you run and get the boys breakfasts about ready."
"Sure and it's nothing y'all need to worry about." I got up and headed to the south 40 where sure enough Bo and Luke were finishing up with the fence. "Hey boys Daisy wanted me to tell y'all it's time for breakfast."
"Great I sure worked up an apatite out here" Bo said as Luke elbowed him in the ribs "Bo you didn't do nothing but put in a post."
"Okay but I'm still hungry"
"Alright ladies lets tone down the arguing and let's go" I joked.
They both gave me sarcastic glares and we all started laughing.Once we finished helping Daisy and Uncle Jessie clean the dishes we went into town. "Are y'all sure I shouldn't drive my car?"
"Nah the generals got enough space just ride along with us" Luke replied.
"Alright" I said while Luke helped me though the window of the General Lee. I sat in between Bo at the wheel and Luke in the passenger seat.
"Now Faith I've got to ask are you wearing Luke's shirt?"
"Yeah he gave it to me last night and I didn't feel like changing into anything else." I glanced in Luke's direction and saw him smile.
"So boys what are we getting?"
"Well Uncle Jessie needs more wired fence for the rabbit cage, Daisy needs some eggs and flour and a sack of grits, and we need some more parts for the general as well as more dynamite and arrows." Luke said reading off of what looked like a grocery list.
"What's wrong with the general?" I asked
"Well the carburetors been acting up and we need to fix the break pads before they completely wear out." Bo said. I nodded my head and focused on the road in front of me just before hearing sirens going off behind us.
"Dang it Rosco's on our tail" Bo said as he smacked the wheel before switching gears and flooring it.
With no sign of giving up from Rosco, Bo headed straight for the Hazzard pond saying "hang on y'all" before launching the general skywards and safely over the large pond of water. We touched the ground after a few seconds of being airborne and Bo put the general to a stop. We all turned around and watched as Rosco launched him self right into the middle of the pond. Luke CB'd some guy Cooter to tow him out and we turned back to the road laughing as we continued into town.We pulled up to a small general store in the town square. "Hey do y'all mind if go run down there and get some new clothes while y'all are in here?" I said pointing to a clothing store across the street. "Sure we don't mind but uh you look real good in my shirt." Luke said scratching the back of his neck. I laughed as he started to blush and Bo obviously saw too because he lightly punched him in the shoulder saying "come on cuz we ain't got all day"
"Bo don't you ever listen to Uncle Jessie about the importance of patience"
I turned away smiling at their conversation and headed towards the clothing shop. I practically bought out the store it was so small but I ended up with new boots, shirts, pants, and accessories so it was worth it. I left the shop with all my bags and made my way to the general right as the boys were walking out of Mr. Rhuebottoms. "What'd you do buy out the entire store?" Luke asked
"Pretty much but it ain't like its a huge department store either."
"True"
Bo helped me put my bags in the trunk while Luke started up the general. "Now we have to run by Cooters to get those parts from the general you okay with that?"
"Yep" we pulled into the garage and hopped out of the general. Cooter came out a second later and started to inspect under the generals hood and Luke introduced me to him "Cooter this here is Faith she's new in town."
"Pleasure meeting you Faith say what's a pretty girl like yourself doing down here in Hazzard County. Running from the law?" I laughed "worse... My ex boyfriend."
"Yeah that's tough but if you need anyone to teach him a lesson I can sure help."
"I may take you up on that offer one day."
The boys chatted with Cooter about the engine and I found myself staring at the county courthouse building.
"Hey I'm gonna run into the courthouse do y'all mind?"
"No but why the only thing in there is Boss and he's trouble." Bo replied.
"I've just got some business to take care of. I shouldn't be long."
"Alright we'll probably still be here with the way the generals looking" Bo said. I nodded and made my way up the stairs and into the building.
