Calla Lilly Everwood: getting to know me

Getting to know me:

My name is Calla Lilly Everwood, I am 15 years old, my home is district 12 the poorest district in Panem.

My best friends are Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne and Peeta Mellark. Katniss, Gale and I are from the Seam, we all lost our fathers in a mine explosion about 5 years ago. Ever since we have been providing for our families going out hunting and bring in fresh game, unlike Katniss and Gale who are the oldest in their families,I'm the youngest in my family. I have one older brother Nick, he is handsome 18 year old with blue eyes and sandy blonde hair, he's tall strong, and the best brother in the world. As for me I am about 5' 8 and I have dark brown hair and bluish green eyes. As for my mom, she has been in her own world since my father died. Since my brother can't work in the mines yet, he can't make money for us,so when we need food, clothes, etc; We go to my godfather Haymitch Abernathy.

Yes, I know what your all thinking, a victor of the Hunger Games is a poor seam girls godfather? Yes, in fact he is, my father and Haymitch have been friends their whole lives. So when my brother and I were born, Haymitch and my father made a legal document stating that if anything were to happen to my dad, Haymitch would take care of us. But my mom also asked her best friend Hazel Hawthorne to sign a paper so she would be our legal godmother.

My mom and hazel grew up together in the merchants part of town along with Katniss and Peeta's mothers Autumn and Nora. I'm close with Peeta, Gale and Katniss's mom's, they have been like a mom to me ever since my mom slipped into her own world. My mom only talks once in a while, usually if she needs something or when the reaping for the Hunger Games comes around each May, other than that she sits in her room and stares at the wall all day. As for Nick and I we are usually at school till around 3:00, but Nick gets out of school at 2:30 since he's a senior, lucky him, he's no longer at the bottom of the food chain unlike me...

For some reason girls in my school really dislike Katniss and I, I'm not sure if it is because we look better fed than them or because we have more muscle than them or it could be anything really. But, Katniss and I also work out everyday, we run every morning, then hunt and work out in the forest after school, Gale usually joins us for that part. Peeta on the other hand always has to go home and work in the bakery, so he never gets to come with us. Not that he would come in the woods anyways, he thinks they are too dangerous. A lot the girls in our school also hate that we always hang out with Gale, hes considered the " Hottest" guy in school, along with my brother Nick, and his friends Brant and one of Peeta's brothers Shar. I'm super close with Brant and Shar just like I am with Katniss, Gale and Peeta and my brother.

Shar and Brant have known me since I was a baby, so they know me like the back of their hands. They know that my feelings can be hurt easily , they know I tend to have a very short fuse as well. They've seen me go after a someone before, it took Nick and Gale to pull me off the kid. But they also know my gentle and caring side, they know how to calm me down when I'm frightened or sad, they know my strengths and weaknesses, my skills with the bow and arrow, my knowledge of plants and my skill climbing trees. But you get the point don't you? So they know everything about me just like my brother, Gale, Katniss and Peeta do.
