Nightmares

Authors note: Hey everyone, I know this chapter is long but its one of the most important chapters in the story let me know what you think. Please no rude comments this is my first story. I hope you enjoy the story!

I walk into my house just getting home from school and I call for my mom and Nick, but theres no answer, maybe they don't hear me? I slowly make my way up stairs calling their names again, then I walk into Nicks room. But hes not in there, so I walk to my moms room that's when I see them... my mom hanging from the rafter by a rope and Nick with a Dagger in his chest, both of them gone forever, silenced in their horrible state eye's wide open looking right at me...

I wake up from my dream screaming and crying...

My brother comes running into my room breathing heavily, " Lilly, Whats wrong, are you okay, what happened ?!"

" I'm okay Nick, just had a bad dream." I say

" Are you sure Lilly? do you wanna talk about it?" He says calmly

" Maybe I'll be able to fall asleep easier if I do." I say quietly

I tell him how in my dream mom and him were both dead, gone. How I sat there screaming and crying that they would wake up, how I didn't leave their sides and I just cried and cried wanting them back more than anything in the world.

After I'm finished we're both crying and hugging each other tightly. After a few minutes my brother says" Lilly, I love you more than anyone in the world, and I promise you that dream will never come true, I will always be here to protect you."

"I love you too Nick, your the best big brother in the world, I couldn't ask for a better brother than you." I say lovingly.

We hug each other goodnight, and Nick kisses me on the forehead as always. I fall asleep easily now having much happier dreams, and before I know it Nick's voice is waking me from my sleepy state. Next thing I know Nicks tickling my sides and I yell at him to knock it off. Once I have opened my eyes I throw my pillow at him, and he just starts laughing at my sleepy throw. " I'm up are you happy?" I say sarcastically He replies" Yes, I'm very happy to see your awake and in a good mood." I smile and say " Good, now get out so I can get ready for school." As I make a face at him, he grabs me by the waist and tickles me again and the leaves me on the floor laughing. I finish getting ready for school and meet Nick downstairs. I grab a quick breakfast and wait for Nick, then kiss my mom goodbye and tell her I love her. We walk past Katniss's house first she and her little sister Prim comes running out, and they both give me a hug.

Then, we walk past Gale's house, he walks out with his two younger brother's Vick and Rory, Gale walks over and pulls me into his arms and says" Good morning Lilly pad." he smiles sweetly. " I hate when you call me that, and good morning Gale." I say laughing, as I'm enjoying the warmth of his arms wrapped around me. Then my brother looks over and says " Aw, Lilly's blushing, how cute!" I glare at Nick, and he just starts laughing at my embarrassed face. Nick knows that I like Gale, I always have liked him, but I never got up the nerve to tell him my true feelings for him. Then I say" So what if I am? Gale is my best friend and he gives good hugs, plus he's nice and warm and I'm freezing, so its like having an extra coat only better". I look up at Gale and he smiles and says " I'm glad your nice and warm Lilly pad". When I do finally let go of Gale I'm freezing all over again so I side step into Nick and poke him the side so he puts a warm protective arm around me.

Once we get to school the staring begins as Katniss and I walk by with Nick and Gale at our sides. One girl, Willow Anderson sneers at us as we go by her. After I give Nick a hug and see Shar and Brant and give them a hug as well, Katniss and I go sit in a tree where Gale is with his friends. We look around the yard and see Willow and some other girls staring at us, so I give Katniss a look and we nod our heads and jump out of the tree and go over to Gale and wrap our arms around him. Gale looks down at us with his seam grey eyes and smiles, then says," Look its my two favorite girls in the world, Lilly pad and Catnip." We both smile and laugh at the silly nicknames he gave us ever since we were little, and bury our faces in his shirt. We stay with Gale and his friends until the bell rings, as we are walking in a group of girls stop us.
