Denial

I walk with Gale and Cato to Finnicks house, with one of Nicks sweatshirts on and my hands enter twinned with one of theirs. I feel safe with them, just as I did with Nick. I look at Cato, his eyes remind me of my brother, he looks at me and smiles sadly. He reminds me so much of Nick, tears threaten to spill over and they do. Cato and Gale both gently wipe them away and we continue to walk in silence down the path, an occasional sob escaping from me. The only thing keeping me from crumbling to the ground is the two boys at my side.

We are almost at Finnick's house, when I finally crack and fall to the ground again.Gale and Cato sit down next to me, both of them holding me in Their arms and whispering soothing things to me. When I stop sobbing I finally speak:

"Thanks guys for being here for me." I say

" We will always be here for you Lilly." They say together.

" I know, you guys mean a lot to me!" I say and I hug them both and kiss them on the cheek.

We get up and slowly walk into Finns house. I walk into the kitchen with the boys by my side, Finn and Katniss are sitting at the table drinking green tea warming themselves up. We sit there in silence for a few minutes, then Finn speaks up,

" Are you guys hungry? I have plenty to eat." He say

Everyone nods their head except me, I stand up and say " I think I'm just going to go to up stairs..."

Everyone looks at me with a sympathetic look in their eyes as I walk out of the kitchen. I walk up stairs and into one of the spare rooms and sit on the bed, I start thinking about all the memories I had with Nick and my mom and the tears start coming once again. That's when I start singing the valley song:

"Deep in the meadow, under the willow

A bed of grass, a soft green pillow

When I finish the song I look up and see Gale and everyone else standing in the doorway.

"You have a beautiful voice Lilly." Finn says.

"Thank you Finn, I thought you guys were eating dinner though?" I say

" We wanted to check on you, we heard you start singing and I knew it wasn't your regular voice " Gale speaks up and smiles slightly

" Thanks guys, I will be okay, I just need some sleep that's all." I reply

" Eat something, please Lilly!" Katniss says

" I'm not hungry Kat." I say to her.

" I'm going to take a shower, okay Finn?" I ask

" Go ahead baby girl." Finn says

I walk out of the room and into the bathroom,and close the door behind me and I undress, I turn the shower on and step in. And let the warm water run over my skin, trying to wash away all the pain from today. After about an hour I get out of the shower and dry off and walk into the hall with my towel wrapped around me.

I walk into Finnick's room and grab one of his t-shirts and shorts then walk to the room I was in earlier. I dress then crawl in the huge king size bed. I'm about to fall asleep when my door creeks open, I hold my breath for a second,then relax as Finn, Cato,Katniss and Gale walk into the room. The boys walk over and each kiss me on the forehead and say goodnight. Katniss crawls under the covers with me. Gale and Cato are about to leave when Katniss and I both grab an arm.

"Stay with us?" We say

"Always." They say back, and crawl into bed with us.

I snuggle up next to Gale and rest my head on his chest, he strokes my hair in a comforting way and kisses my forehead. I look up at him, his gaze meeting mine and I smile a little, he mirrors my smile and then says to me;

" You are so strong Lilly, I know that you will get through this. Trust me when I say I wish I could be as strong as you are being right now. I will always be here for you to have a shoulder to cry on, and your arms for comfort." He says a tear in his eyes.

I bring my thumb to his face and gently wipe them away as he did earlier today. I smile and say, " Gale your my best friend, and you mean so much to me.Thank you for staying with me tonight, I really needed you here to keep me calm." I grin slightly.

I lay my head down back on his chest and slowly drift into sleep.
