Age 773, Chu's Hideout

What was time to Chu?

At first, its concept didn't matter. Only Buu, only their bond, only her naps. But then, she began learning, growing until mentally, the concept of time existed. But still, it wasn't important. If she had her brother, nothing else mattered.

Then she was sealed.

She lost Buu.

She was forced to sleep.

Time passed without her, as if she was the one who no longer mattered. Many things changed during that lapse of time. She grew more, she regressed more, something shifted, and when she broke free, she met many new people who became important to her.

Nothing meant anything to her outside her brother until Namek. Until Kyuri. Now, she had him to keep her mind company. She had his bond to keep her sane. Whenever it ventured into that dark place, the one that told her she'd be alone, he was there. He filled the silence with companionship, with kindness, with him.

She loved Kyuri. He was the best.

As she slept, her reserves replenishing at a steady rate to help the minis do their laborious job, she thought about many things. Her minis were doing great, gathering energy without killing anything, but it still wasn't enough. They ventured everywhere, but unless they were willing to cross lines, it would take years more.

Years Chu did not want to wait.

Though there was a spike of energy here and there. It was always where that odd group, the Z-fighters or whatnot, gathered and trained. After destroying the copy baby, the Yellow Man's soul disappeared. He must have died, or went very, very far away. He (Goku), Little Yellow Man (Gohan), the Prideful Man (Vegeta), Piccolo, and Kyuri were the only few out of the bunch that had great reserves of energy.

But the others still trained, stronger than the norm, and the mini's capitalized on that.

Chu didn't bat an eye at the other humans. They didn't have nearly enough power to even be a bite sized snack. It was more than most other planets though; Earth was very rich in Ki, and thus the inhabitants carried more energy within them than normal. On top of that it was purer than most, making her acquisition of energy a little less daunting.

She was sure that the pure energy of this planet had something to do with those wishing orbs, similar to Namek. Though there's weren't as big.

...It would still be much easier to kill everything and take the energy. Kyuri wouldn't want that though, and she loved Kyuri. His opinion mattered, and he liked this world a lot. She wanted to respect what Kyuri had asked of her.

But her connection with her brother was fading.

She was changing.

They would go from two halves of one whole to two beings with the same beginning. Her soul, starving of their bond, was using the energy she'd regained to fill the empty space. Time had given that ephemeral part, the positive ki she'd ingested, what it needed to grow.

Quietly, sweetly, this thing she'd taken in long ago embraced her darker side and had begun melding with it.

One day, would she not be herself anymore?

No, she was already something a bit different than the Chu that was always at her brother's side. They were supposed to be halves of a whole, two parts of one. But without him there, the parts she had left of her soul had to adjust.

The light was slowly taking the place of what was missing. It grows within her, the bond she had with her brother changing as a result. It was filling the gaps with the new things she learned—things that Kyuri taught her about life beyond the chaos and carnage.
