we'll never be, as young as we are now

"luke, do you love me?" i ask hopefully, almost pleading, looking down at first, then into his eyes.
he blushed ferociously, his eyes not meeting mine. it felt as if hours had passed before he said something to me. at first it was only one word.
"yes." he swallowed, paused and continued quickly. "i love you so much ashton fletcher irwin, that it makes my heart hurt. you make me happier than i've ever been, and I haven't known you for that long, but it feels like i have. it really does." he took a deep breath. "it may be too soon to say this. but i can't hide it. i love you." luke said gazing into my eyes. i felt blood rise to my face and i didn't look at the blonde for a while.
he got up, brushing the invisible lint off his pants. he cleared his throat.
"i-i mean, if you don't feel the same," luke scratched the back of his neck and looked at me sheepishly.
oh god my awkwardness had screwed things up.
"no,no,no, i feel the same way. i really do." i got up from the couch and walked toward him. "listen, i was just being awkward." i held his face in my hands, his blonde scruff tickling my palms.
"i love you so much luke robert hemmings, it's insane. it's been so hard for me to hide it from you. i know it's only been like 3 months, but i love you."
luke laughed a little. then he burst into a laughing fit.
"what?" i ask nervously.
"kiss me already." luke said, smirking at me. i smiled and kissed him.

---------------
"yup, and then bing bong died!" luke exclaimed in a sad voice when we were having lunch with coll and kelly.
"luke cried. like real tears." i said mocking him.
he hit me playfully on my bicep, we were laughing and i put my arm around him.
"you guys are adorable." coll remarked, sipping some iced tea.
luke blushed and i smiled. kelly sitting opposite of me nodded, but looked somewhat sad. coll seemed to notice and looked worried at her the wavy haired girl. kelly excused herself and walked away in a hurry. luke sighed.
"what's wrong?" i asked, glancing at the blonde's head bobbing in the distance.
"well, kelly has always had a huge crush on luke. i mean huge." she noticed my confused look and said, "even when she knew luke was gay. anyway, she'd never seen you guys actually together until now, and i guess it's all hitting her." coll shrugged, as if this has happened before. and from the look on luke and her face, it seemed it had.
after coll assured me that kelly was okay, we said our goodbyes and luke and i walked hand in hand to our next class.
---------------

jake looked at me, eyebrows wiggling.
"you should totally come. bring luke. and coll if you want."
the jock was trying to convince me to come to his frat's party. it was in a week, but they needed to know around how many people would be coming, since they needed to purchase food and drinks.
"fine. just, no drugs." i said while leaving his frat before he could respond to my unlikely request. stuffing my hands in my pockets, i walked back to the dorms. luke was already there with coll, and it was about 8. jake's frat house (omega psi) wasn't far, a 10 minute walk.
as i opened the door to our dorm, i found coll sprawled out on the couch, asleep with her arm hanging off. luke was sitting on the floor in front of the couch looking through netflix. he turned around when he heard my footsteps.
"hey ash." he greeted once i stepped in. he got up to kiss me. i loved that we were now public. and that he was comfortable kissing me. i sat next to him on the floor, leaned my head on his shoulder, we cuddled and watched how i met your mother.
