CHAPTER TWO, PART TWO: UNO
I stared intensely at her eyes, as she she stared into mine with the same intensity. The room was silent. Dead silent. I dared not to blink an eye as a smirk grew on her face.
Whatever she is thinking, she's thinking wrong.
"Uno" I said placing a wild card on the used deck. She was taken back for a second, but she composed herself quickly and placed that smirk back on her face.
"What color?" she asked confidently.
"Green." I said smirking at her.
Her eyes widened and she threw her last card on the floor.
It was yellow.
"That's unfair! You peeked at my cards!" She accused angrily, crossing her arms above her chest.
"So I guess this means I win." I said smugly, placing my last card on the deck. This is my 5th win in 6 plays for the past hour. And the first play was when she taught me the rules and how to play.
"That isn't counted! You cheated!" She shouted. Throwing a deck at me. This kid has serious anger issues.
"You've said that since my second win." I said picking up the cards, "Face it, I'm just a fast learner."
"I'm just a fast learner. Blah blah blah." She said mockingly with her tongue out. I shook my head at her.
"One more game?" I asked shuffling the cards. She taught me how to do that too.
"No. I don't wanna play with you anymore. You're not fun." She said slumping on her chair.
"C'mon. You have to lose sometimes." I said trying to make her feel better.
"Like what? 5 times in a row?" She said rolling her eyes.
"You can't blame me for having a boy's intellect."
"So what are you saying? Boys are smarter than girls?" She asked quirking an eyebrow.
"Technically, yeah. But girls live longer than boys."
"How do you know? There are more boys on earth than girls."
"I know cause I know. And no there isn't. There are more girls than boys." I said a matter of factly.
"There are more boys in our classroom than girls."
"There are more girls in our classroom than boys. And I have more girl cousins too." I said. We were a big family scattered around the world. I have 15 cousins and only 5 of them are boys.
"I'm the only girl in our family." She said sadly, "ALL of my cousins are boys. So I always had to compete with them sl that I can be in their little circle."
"Oh." I said, "Are you an only child?"
"Yeah. My parents didn't have anymore kids after me. They didn't want any." She said as if it wasn't such a big deal, "What about you? Do you have any siblings?"
