Kye nodded. "Got a plan?"
"I do. I need Princess Alethea and Aliana with me."
"Got it," Alethea replied. "What do you need me to do?"
Liliana quickly went over her plan, finishing just as Alaira's barrier shattered. Before the dragon could launch another fire breath, the party split into two teams of three. Kye threw a fireball at the dragon, which did little to harm it, but succeeded in getting its attention. Alaira played defense with her earth-element barriers while Kye and Rika shot lightning at the dragon to keep its attention firmly on them.
On the other side, Liliana summoned a large scale water spell, "<<Tsunami>>!" She held the wave of water in place along the right side of the arena until it was fully formed, then unleashed it at the dragon.
"<<Nifleheim>>!" Alethea shouted. Liliana's wall of water collided with the dragon, completely submerging it briefly, and that was enough for Alethea to freeze it solid with her wide area ice spell.
Normally, she wouldn't be able to cast Nifleheim that effectively at her level, but working as a team where one summoned a large amount of water for her, she could freeze that water rather than create the ice from nothing.
The big dragon popsicle was Aliana's cue. She ran her hand along her sword, "<<Severance>>," putting more mana into it this time. She swung her sword horizontally, unleashing a crescent-shaped wave of purple mana at the dragon that bisected it and cleaved through the trees making up the wall of the arena. Kye's team knew to duck once the dragon was frozen to avoid getting hit. As they looked up at the now bisected dragon, it exploded into a huge cloud of white dust.
Kye and the others jumped up and ran over to the other team. Alaira whistled and said, "Nice job, you guys. Especially you, Ally. That Severance attack is some serious work."
Aliana answered her with a smile and nod.
"Excellent teamwork everyone, and solid plan, Lily!" Kye said with a slight cheer in her tone. "We have nine more floor bosses until C Rank. Let's show them hell!"
Ginchiyo cleared her throat and pretended to glared at her. "Language, young lady."
Kye raised an eyebrow back, earning a round of giggles from the other girls. "Anyway, shall we move on to the next floor?" She stored the drops in her inventory and led the group to the stairwell to the next floor, located at the back of the arena inside a large tree.
Over the next nine floors, they were tested over and over again with humanoid monsters. The gentle reminder that they are just monsters helped the girls push through it. At first, Rika had trouble fighting even the regular monsters and talked to everyone about it. But once she accepted that they were just simulations spawned by the dungeon to challenge them and nothing more, she managed to push through it, giving the others the strength to push through their inhibitions as well.
As they climbed, their teamwork only improved. Throughout the forested floors, they began to encounter elves, which initially took the mortal girls by surprise, but they worked through it. At the end of floor 40 was the first humanoid boss, an elf king.
"Guys, would you mind if I take this one by myself?" Kye asked as she stretched her arms upward.
"You want to solo it?" Alethea asked.
"I just want to see how well I can stand against a powerful humanoid enemy in here as I am now."
The others exchanged glances and nodded, giving Kye all she needed to step forward into the unusually large boss arena on her own. The gateway was the same as every other floor, but the actual arena was bigger than the rest of the floor.
