"<<Detonation>>."
Upon speaking the name of the spell, the catalysts collided, and an enormous explosion triggered, much bigger than the one from Refulgent Burst. The shockwave reached them immediately, and the flames spanned into the sky. She triggered it far enough away that the flames wouldn't read them.
As the flames died down, Kye turned around and held up her hand with her fingers in a v-shape.
"Incredible..." James said.
Not giving them time to respond, Kye immediately created a catalyst out of lightning mana, then another, then another until there were ten, and sent them off into the distance as well. Only this time, she formed a circle in the sky.
"If I make catalysts out of lightning, then arc them... <<Kami Ikazuchi>>!"
In the distance, the circle of orbs shot lightning across to each other, forming a ring of lightning, then a massive bolt fell from them spanning the size of the circle.
"The more mana you put into it, the bigger you can make the circle. So you can choose to affect a bigger area such as to wipe out an army, or keep the ring small to focus all that power such as to attack a single large target."
Rika's eyes lit up with stars as she rushed up to Kye. "You have to teach me that spell!"
Kye smirked. "I thought you might be interested, my fellow lightning lover. We'll work up to it, okay?"
Rika excitedly nodded, but was brought back to reality by a chop on her head from Ginchiyo. "Calm yourself, child. That level of magic will require immense training. Don't expect to attain it anytime soon."
"I know that!" Rika shot back.
Everyone shared in a chuckle, even Allison cracking a light smile.
"And there's several more, but I'll showcase just one more," Kye said.
"No, you can stop now," Layla said, eyeing her brother exasperatedd. "I don't think our magic fanatic here needs any more demonstrations. That's quite enough."
"What? No, don't stop her now, there's still so mu-" Like Rika before, James was silenced with a quick chop to his head by Allison.
"No."
She said only a single word, but spoke with such authority that James immediately backed down, almost whimpering.
"Well then..." Kye said, giving her uncle with an empathetic glance before snapping her finger to create a portal back to the sitting room in the royal palace. "Did somebody record all of this?"
"I did~" Alethea said in singsong with a happy grin. "I wanted to show Mother and my aunts when we go visit Atlantis City this weekend."
"Right. Looking forward to it!" Kye glanced at her mother and added, "When will I get to see Hannah and Akane again? It's been YEARS! I haven't seen them since my birth party! Chiyo was going to take us to Akane's dojo, but you stopped that, too!"
"I told you we can't. Unless they are your guardian, not even other royals can visit you until you're of age. The council won't budge. I can't do anything about it."
Kye shot her a frustrated look. "What if I just make a portal to Atlas or Yokohama Sekai and go there without the council's permission? What are they going to do about it? You only ever told me I can't see them, not what the consequences would be of doing so regardless."
Layla sighed in exasperation.
"Kye sweetie," Ginchiyo said, kneeling down to meet her great-granddaughter's eyes. "We don't like it either. I want to take you to see Akane and Hannah and anyone else you want to visit, but most of the council is full of hard asses that won't budge on the law. The consequences are what little freedom you have now."
