He can't be joking. No one else wanted to be allies with us? "Please tell me you're joking," I say.

"Sorry, but I'm not joking," he answered. "Oh, I forgot to mention the weird kid. If you haven't notice he stares at you." I look around the table to see a kid with bright green eyes, staring at me. Not wanting to make eye contact, I look back over at Ben.

"If he can fight, I guess he's fine," I say.

"He can. I wouldn't have asked him."

"Sarah, what do you think?"

"It's up to you. I think he'll be fine. His name is Aaron Brown from District Seven. They're known for being hardworking and down to Earth," she answered. I look over at Ben, who's staring at her like that again, so I bump my foot to his to get his attention without anyone noticing.

"What?" he asks.

"Pay attention," I answer and look back at Sarah.

"So, I think it'll be a good idea," Sarah says.

"What does it say about District 1?" Ben asks.

"Everyone knows District 1 and as the Careers," she answers. "They're scared of you."

"What about you?" I ask.

"Good swimmers."

"Then why doesn't anyone want to be with us."

"Because that's all they know. You don't seem like them so they think you're nothing."

"Then we must show them otherwise," I say.
