"Isa Wright," she answers. "I'm just hungry and want some food. I was scared to ask." I scare at the girl up and down. She's maybe thirteen years old with empty grey eyes filled with fear. I can't bear to see her like this.
I reach into my pocket to give her what I have, but Jaelyn speaks up. "You can't trust her. She was the girl Ben and I took the bow from. She can't be trusted. She probably has an army around us now."
I look back at her. "She's thirteen. Who would be dangerous enough to..." Jaelyn suddenly falls on her face, a dagger in her back. Dead. A cannon fires.
My pulse races. Another dagger is thrown out from a bush, almost hitting Ben, but I push him out of the way. A pain races from my arm and I scream in agony. The pain feels like a force ripping my bone apart.
I feel someone grab my arm and I open my eyes to see the weird boy named Aaron. "Hide," he says gentily and points toward a tree. I painfully shake my head and aim my bow at the bush. Two teens, a sixteen year-old girl and a fourteen year-old boy, stand out of the bush, daggers in their hands.
Before the boy-I think his name is Edric Hall-can throw one, he is hit with a knife to the chest. I look back to see Jon, shaking with another knife in his hand. The girl-Trixie Evans-looks over at her dying friend and sighs. "He wasn't going to live anyway." Then he turns and throws another dagger, this time hitting Jon.
The closest one to him, Sarah, catches him. She breaths heavily and looks at my with empty eyes. Jon's going to die.
