Blinding white. White was everywhere. And it was quiet. Very quiet. Am I dead? I don't know. I don't really feel dead. I blink open my eyes and see myself in a cage. A pretty big one. I sit up and look around me. People in white coats were staring at me. Many of them were taking notes.
"Where am I? Why have you brought me here?" I ask to the 5 people in the room.
They don't answer and just take notes. I decide it's best not to talk and I observe. My heart is pounding, I'm scared. How will they kill me? Why am I here? Where is here?
My mind is exploding with questions and I tuck my knees close to my chest and wrap my arms around my legs. I rest my head on my arms and I stay there, still. Are they going to give me a slow death?
Hours tick by and I make little movement. It's almost WolfGirl time. Then it hit me, they wanted to study me when I'm a wolf! Then kill me once they've got their information. This place must be a science lab of some sort.
Minutes tick by and I get restless, bored, but still scared. I'm hungry and thirsty, but no food or water is offered.
I start to grow a tail, then ears, my hands turn to paws and fur grows on my bare skin. I'm a wolf in a matter of seconds. The scientists take so much notes that their pencils are a blur. I start to whimper and my tail in between my legs.
My cage door opens and I flatten myself on the other side. If I go out the cage door, it just leads to another cage, but that cage is kind of like pet carriers for cats and dogs.
"Go." A gruff voice says. "Or else you will die."
I quickly run into the carrier thing that is too small for my wolf size. I can squeeze myself in. The carrier door is closed and it starts to move. I close my eyes and pretend its a bad dream. When the carrier finally stops moving and I hear the click of the carrier door unlocking, I get dumped on the......grass? Am I outside?
I open my eyes and see I am only merely in another really really really big glass cage. Kind of like an exhibit in the zoo. Wolves peer behind the trees. I look around and see the Scientists have mimicked a real forest and put fake trees, rocks, bushes and grass in here. A river slices through the forest with real actual water. Am I in a zoo? I'm confused.
Suddenly, I see a wolf running up towards me. A shaggy yellow wolf with sky blue eyes. Cody? No, it can't be, how can the wolf be Cody?
Cody barks a hello and I growl and run into the forest where wolves pin me down.
Then I realize that Cody, who's tail was higher than anyone's was the Alpha of this pack.
"Stop it!" I hear Cody bark to his pack. "She's the Beta."
"I'm not going to be your mate!" I growl.
The wolves keep me pinned on to the ground.
"I'm sorry Mira, but if you don't, the scientists will kill you and add another WolfGirl in. They kill all the females except the Beta and leave the WolfBoys to mate with the only girl." Cody barks.
"I don't want to be your mate, nor have puppies with you." I woof.
"We don't have to now, we have to when they tell us to." Cody explains. "Go sleep."
The wolves all disperse and I stalk to the corner where I curl up and listen to the sound of trickling water. Loneliness gnawed on my heart and I realize that I will be here for the rest of my life until the scientists decide to kill me. The wolves here are all young. Where do they go if they grow old? Do they get killed?
I hear footsteps and I raise my head. Cody. He sits next to me.
"You're a WolfBoy." I growl.
"Yeah, only on half moons." Cody barks.
"I hate you." I growl.
"I know you do and I'm so sorry I brought you here. " Cody whimpers.
"There is no chance of escaping. No hope." I woof quietly.
"There is hope still left Mira." Cody says.
"False hope." I snarl.
"No, real hope. " Cody says softly. "My dad works here. He can try to get us out."
"Doubt it. There must be some high security." I growl, but my hope for escaping was rising.
"He will do it for me. For us." Cody says and walks away.
I sigh. Will his dad save his son? Save me?Why does his dad even work in this cruel place? There are so many questions. And most of them are unanswered.
A tear drops from my wolf eyes and I lay my head on to the fake grass. If only fate could have been kinder, I would've not come to this evil place.
