I'm sorry I haven't been updating lately. It's because school just started and I don't have enough time to write. But I'll try to update whenever I can.
~WillowThunderIt's been a week or more and I'm still here in this cage with Cody and his wolf pack. I doubt his father will save us. Hope is leaving me slowly. But on the good side, I don't have to mate Cody. A least not yet.
It's day time and I'm back to human. Everyday a new wolf is added in and an aging old wolf is taken away, so the wolves in this pack is always changing.
Cody still tries to tell me his father will save us someday every night, but I stopped listening to him long ago.
He told me his father's name is Professor Knightley. Or Luke Knightley. He also told me that his father worked here so that if his son was ever captured, he could save him.
When everyone is human form, we don't listen to anyone and Cody has no right to tell us what to do. We get to wander around in human form and just do what we like.
I sit by the stream and listen to the water. It's soft whoosh comforts me. A little girl about 5 yrs old is playing in the shallows of the stream. I've learned by now her name is Melissa. Melissa cries a lot and I'm the only one who comforts her.
My stomach growls in hunger, but there is no food. Our two meals are both given at 12:00. One at midnight, one at mid-day. Many wolves are taken from this cage and they come back always with deformed parts or shaved off patches of fur. I'm mad at the scientists, but I can't do anything to make them stop.
Suddenly a little yelp comes from my right and I see Melissa slipping and falling under the currents of the river.
I quickly jump into the water and pull Melissa out.
Melissa coughs up water and she sits up.
I take her hand and lead her to my wolf den. Melissa doesn't have a wolf den because she doesn't know how to make one. She just sleeps out in the open.
Melissa instantly goes to sleep in my wolf den as she warms up in the soft grass. I smile and stay with her.
Cody approaches me and I stand up.
"Don't tell me that your father will rescue us. There is no hope, we will die here like the other WolfBoys and WolfGirls." I say.
"There is hope. We will not die here like the rest. He will save us tonight, I have a feeling." Cody whispers.
I sit down and Cody sits beside me.
"I doubt he will." I say but Cody shakes his head and puts his arm around me.
"He will save us. I know he will. But if he doesn't, I'll make sure at least you escape. I got you in here, it was a huge mistake. Now I need to get you out of this horrid place so I can finally forgive myself of what I've done." Cody says softly, his fingers plucking a fake purple flower and putting it in my hand.
I drop the flower in the river and the currents take it away. Cody smiles and suddenly he is kissing my cheek. I hug him and then he draws away and leaves.
Melissa wakes up and looks at me with her brown eyes.
"Thank you." Melissa says and she waddles away.
My stomach growls, wanting food. I groan and curl into a ball in my den. I swiftly fall asleep.
--------------------------------------------
The familiar whirling sound of the slot opening to let in prey rang in my ear pleasantly as I waited in front with the other wolves, and humans. A deer prances through the door shyly as it was pushed in. The deer is strong, fit, fast, and young, but was skinny. I predict there will be injured wolves today as I eye the powerful hooves.
I skitter away from the deer, not wanting to die under theses threatening hooves and antlers.
Cody comes to my side and beckoned me to come. I cock my head in confusion but still follow Cody. Our pace quickens as we run through the fake forest. Cody stops at the right edge of the cage.
Cody flicks his ears to the glass and I see a tall lanky man with a pet carrier.
We are going to escape!
Suddenly, a squeal came from the forest and Melissa ran up to me.
"I want to go." Melissa whines.
I look at Cody and he shakes his head. Melissa's eyes are begging and she whimpers.
But Melissa couldn't go. The pet carrier was too small.
"I'm sorry, but no." I woof softly.
Melissa growls in discontent and runs back to the forest.
Professor Knightley pushes a button and the cage door opens. I quickly follow Cody into the pet carrier.
I hear the cage door close and feel Professor Knightley walking. There was silence for a long time and Professor Knightley would always stop, then walk, then stop, then walk.
Suddenly I feel the cool breeze of the night wind and the soft chirping of crickets. We were outside.
"Hey, Luke Knightley, what are you doing with that wolf carrier?" A voice suddenly says, making me flinch.
"I have a cat at home and I really need a pet carrier. Professor Fletcher said I could borrow one." I hear Professor Knightley say.
"Oh really? What about going to the pet store and getting one?" The other voice asked.
"I don't have enough money to buy one." Professor Knightley says, I can clearly hear the tremble in his voice as he lies.
The other voice snickers and sneers, "Go home to your little shack Luke!"
I feel Cody tense up beside me.
And then, I feel Professor Knightley walking in a fast pace.
I could smell the fresh air and hear the night sounds. The trees make a whispering sound as they sing and dance with the soft, cool breeze.
I feel a burst of happiness. Cody wraps his tail around me and I, around his.
I felt only one word. Love.
