Gerard gripped the bullet wound in his side. The bastard had shot him. Shot him for wanting to know where Frank was. That just pissed Gerard off even more. The guy had almost been expecting him, it seemed. That nearly tipped Gerard over the edge. But Billie Joe was there, laying a calm hand on Gerard's shoulder, despite the fact that Gerard was bleeding profusely from just under his stomach.
"Please, just tell him. He needs that boy. You don't understand, but you're married, I assume?" Billie had always been better at this than him. The man, Spencer, nodded slowly.
"Y-yes. I have a wife and two children. Please don't hurt them. But I can't tell you any-" Billie cut him off.
"Bullshit! You can tell us and you know it! Don't fuck with me, Spencer Smith, or kiss those three people goodbye." Billie smirked. "We've already got them, so if you don't treat us right and tell us what we need to know about that boy, they're goners." Spencer's eyes widen and his gun-hand starts shaking.
"Please... Don't hurt him. I'll do anything." Billie nodded, smiling.
"I know you would. Now, imagine how Gerard is feeling. He doesn't know where Frank is, what condition he's in or anything. You at least know that we have your family. He doesn't know if you have him or some gang does. He's dying on the inside. He needs that boy." Billie repeated. "Put yourself in his perspective. Imagine how he must be feeling." Spencer nods slowly and lowers his weapon before setting it carefully on the floor, pointing away from all of them.
"We'll tell you, then." Mikey spoke up from his place near Spencer for the first time now. Billie nodded, helping Gerard to lay down before cutting off his shirt and opening his first-aid kit.
"Go on and tell us while I'm fixing him up." Billie instructs, grabbing an antibacterial wipe and gently cleaning Gerard's newly perforated abdomen with it. Gerard hisses in a breath, but doesn't do any more than that.
As they explain they found Frank in the back of the van of someone they were following, he had been stabbed in the leg, beaten unconscious and hog-tied and thrown in the back awkwardly.
"We didn't think he was alive, at first. That's how bad he looked..." Spencer chimed in as Mikey explained. They nodded. Billie gave Gerard a small towel to bite down upon while he quickly pulled the bullet from his gut. Gerard let out a grunt when Billie pulled it out-albeit mercilessly- and set it down on the floor in a small tissue. Gerard saw his blood soaking it as Billie used a new wipe to clean the hole. That stung much more and Gerard groaned into the towel.
They went on to tell them that he was in the hospital after being brought to the police station and identified as the boy that went missing. The one everyone was looking for. They took him to the hospital and he was put in intensive care. Gerard sucked in a breath, but not because Billie had started using his sterile needle and thread.
He had thought of Frank, unconscious and hooked up to machines and monitors, hurting. He thought of Frank waking up and not having Gerard there to welcome him back. He wasn't about to let that happen. It was as Billie had snipped the thread and pulled out the shit with the weird name-Gerard called them Liquid Stitches for short-and had begun to use it over the newly sewn together skin that Gerard spoke.
"Is- Will he be okay?" His voice came out strained, even to his own ears. He hated that he made it so obvious how much he needed Frank. Mikey smiled, though he was out of Gerard's line of sight and nodded.
"He's gonna be okay, Gee. The doctors said he was stable the last time I checked about two hours ago. They said the stitches and the internal bleeding was healing nicely and that he'd be out in no time, maybe two day's if he was lucky. But don't worry, Gee. Your boy's gonna be just fine." Mikey missed that. Being able to talk to his older brother. He'd thought that if he ever saw his brother again, he would be arresting him for the murder of his mother and being involved in dealing so many illegal weapons, as well as purchasing them.
But, no. Here he was, sheriff of Belleville Police Department and having a calm, normal conversation with his murderer brother who was lying on the floor. Lying on the floor while getting a bullet-wound cleaned and fixed by who was most likely not a licensed doctor. He seemed to know what he was doing, though, so Mikey trusted him to not infect his big brother's gut and kill him.
Gerard smiled. Frank would be okay. Frank would be okay and soon he would have his Frank back in his arms, safe and sound and protected and he'd be able to fall asleep with Frank like that, after kissing all of Frank's scars like he always did. After kissing Frank goodnight and tell him how much he loved him, he would fall asleep with Frank in his arms. Safe and sound.
