Frank couldn't believe it. He somewhat remembered Gerard promising him that they would go somewhere when Gerard was better, somewhere where no one would know who they were, where they wouldn't get caught or anything. Frank had dismissed the thought almost immediately. How would Gerard Way, one of the most notorious members of the American Mafia get out of(and back into, more importantly) the country?
Gerard had also promised that he would kill James Dewees, which was what had Frank much more worried at the time. So he had raped Frank, so he had had Frank knocked unconscious, so he had stabbed Frank in the leg and tried(and almost successfully) to kidnap him and do God-Knows What else to him. Frank didn't care. Gerard and his brother and Billie Joe and Spencer Smith had saved him.
While Frank had lost his voice and Gerard had had some kind of heart failure within just over a week of Frank getting back home, Frank hadn't wanted Gerard to do anything to James Dewees. Frank wasn't used to Gerard's sadistic, evil side. Frank was used to the Gerard with the soft expression and pretty hazel eyes that nuzzled his nose into Frank's hair, whispering that it was soft and that he couldn't wait to play with it later, when no one else was around and it was just the two of them. Frank would smile and blush when all the others in the room(if there even were any at that point) would avert their eyes rather pointedly. They all thought Gerard would be whispering things that were only for Frank's ears, when they weren't that bad, really. Gerard and Frank didn't do much else but kiss anymore. Save the very rare occasion when they would actually get each other off.
"Frank?" Gerard had asked when he placed the two plane tickets in front of Frank. Frank blinked a few times before looking at Gerard, wide-eyed. He was asking if Gerard was being serious or if Gerard was only saying that he and some subordinate had to go out of the country on 'business'. Frank desperately hoped that he and Gerard were leaving, if only for a weekend.
Frank had grown to love the HQ. He had lived there for eight months by then. It was more of a home than his old house with his parents had been. It was more of a place he would think of as his sanctuary or safe place than any church or police station. Gerard was there. If home was where you heart was, then Frank's would be here as long as Gerard was, because Gerard had his heart.
It was October 30th, the day before Frank's birthday, when Gerard had placed the tickets there. Frank had almost completely forgotten that it was to be his 20th birthday. Gerard had turned 26 back in April, putting yet another year between them. Frank knew he would catch up soon, though. It was weird to think he had been 'kidnapped' in December and Gerard and himself had had their accidents in late January/early February. Frank wasn't big on keeping dates anymore. Just so long as he got to spend every day near Gerard, he was happy.
"Happy early birthday, Frank Anthony Iero Jr." Gerard whispered from behind Frank, kissing his shoulder and hugging him back against him tight. Gerard took a deep breath, pressing his face into Frank's neck. Frank smelled like metal, somewhat. Wood, too. He was like a walking guitar car-scent. He smelled... good. Gerard would never be able to fathom how Frank functioned without the guitars he had spent so much of his life playing. Then it hit him. He knew what else he would get Frank for his birthday. He giggled and picked Frank up into his arms. He felt Frank's cold nose press into his neck and he laughed, laying Frank down on the bed before joining him. Frank was always a good cuddler.
'Are you serious??' Gerard giggled at the note and kissed Frank in response.
"That's right, Frank. Fresh air, heat, sunlight, wild animals- nothing but sand and palm-trees and crystal-clear ocean water with fish and coral and coconuts for a month and a half. Just you and me and the monkeys and the birds." He whispered excitedly, watching the alarm clock for midnight. Once it was officially October 31st, he could give Frank his third birthday present.
No matter how cliché birthday-sex was, Frank thought in the afterglow of it, it was always a welcome gift for any occasion.
"Happy birthday, Frank." Gerard whispered, just before nodding off. Frank couldn't shut his mind off, though. If Gerard had upheld his promise to take Frank away...
Who was to say he hadn't kept his first promise to kill James Dewees?
(I just wanted to say how ironic it is that I managed to get Frank's birthday to match up with the chapter number. XD)
