I woke up in yet another hospital room. Examining my body, I found my shoulder and back bandaged. I had nothing more than a few burns. I looked around. Why did all hospital rooms have to be so dull and boring? Having thought that, I noticed something different about this room. It was decorated with the Pokemon Center crest on two of the walls. I was in a Pokemon Center. That must have meant nothing serious had happened to me! I found my pokeballs and backpack on a table in the corner of the room. Even after what had happened, I felt like there was nothing to sit and brood about. I wasn't seriously hurt, Apollo, Buizel, Snorunt and Drilbur were with me, and I was in a Center, hopefully which meant I was in a town or city. I picked my stuff up, and shuffled out of the room. It was then that I had a brainwave. I had a Water type all along! And now I remember. Slapping my forehead, I made my way to the elevator and pressed the Ground Floor button.
I was tapping my foot to the lame, yet catchy elevator music. The doors slid open. Head held high, looking quite like I hadn't a care in the world, I hoped to silently walk past the reception desk unnoticed. Unfortunately, that was not to be.
"Young man, just where do you think you're going?"
Dang it.
I was hustled back to the room, where I was supposed to sit and rest for a day. How do they expect kids like me to sit idle? A whole day to get out of this place. I let out all three of my Pokemon. Apollo jumped up onto the bed and snuggled up net to where I was sitting. Snorunt waddled around the room. She seemed to be looking for something. The Drilbur was dazed, looked around, then looking at his claws with a puzzled look on her face.
"Hey, uh, Drilbur?"
The Pokemon turned to me.
"Listen, there was a fire, and you and Mawile were in the building, and I, uh, went to retrieve you and I got to you just in time but it was too late for the Mawile.
The Drilbur tapped her nails together, fixing her eyes on the floor for a few awkward moments, then all of a sudden came and hugged my leg.
I beamed. "I'm going to keep you, so I hope you're okay with that."
She nodded vigorously.
Sighing with content and relief, I returned her to her pokeball.
My eyes flickered around, realising again there was nothing here except bare walls. This was going to be a long day. I soon went into a coma of sorts, contemplating about life, playing tunes in my mind in accompaniment to the monotonous ticking of the clock. My eyelids became heavy, drifting slowly into the serenity that is sleep.
"Synne"
"Synne!"
I woke up up with a start to find Cole's smiling face right above my head.
"AAAH!!"
"You're awake."
I looked outside the window. It was pitch-dark."
"What are you doing here?? It's midnight! Midnight, Cole!"
"Will you calm down, and listen to me please?"
"All right, okay. Now can you tell me what in the world is going on?!"
"I've come to get you out of here."
