I was beginning to feel bored when I heard a beep from the direction of the entrance. My classmates were piling into the Center, most of which had their Pokemon outside. Mr.James followed, his Kadabra levitating a few centimeters off the ground right behind him.
Me and Cole practically jumped off the couch. I sent out Apollo, and Cole did the same with Lizzie.
Meanwhile, the teacher was trying to get everyone to keep quiet, with no avail. Finally, the Kadabra started glowing purple, drawing attention. That did the trick.
Clearing his throat, Mr.James announced, "It will be a 20-minute walk to the Subway. From there, it will take us to Catching Forest in about half an hour. I want everybody on their best behaviour, and good luck!"
He led us out of the Center, and walked towards the Subway, and with all of us following him, he looked like the Pied PokeFluter.
Strangely, no one said a word. The only sound was that of our shoes hitting the pavement. After what seemed like hours, we finally reached the station.
We returned our Pokemon to their pokeballs, as instructed, and climbed into the train. There was a faint, pleasant smell of Spritzee perfume, and it was as clean as a Swablu's wing. Okay, maybe that's an overstatement, but it reminded me of how clean Cinccino used to keep the house.
As the train started, I could sense tension. Nobody, and I mean nobody, wanted to stay in school for another year. We were never given a guide as to what Pokemon were in the forest, and the species were changed every year. So the Pokemon we were about to catch were totally random. There were TV screens in front of us, briefing us about what we had to do, as if we didn't already know. I took out my PokeNav and started playing some Flapidgey.
Time passed by, and the train finally screeched to halt. I slipped the PokeNav into my pocket and looked out the window. We had reached.
We got up and stumbled out the train. My mouth dropped. All I had seen from the window were advertisement boards, but the whole station was made of glass. Wherever you looked, there was green (apart from the ads).
I for one could not wait. I ran towards the huge exit, only to be stopped by a man in blue uniform.
"Calm down, kiddo. You gotta go through a security check first." he rumbled.
"S-sorry."
"Mmm"
I walked towards the queue, where my classmates were being checked by a Magneton. There were dozens of officers with Growlithes.
"Man, there is a lot of security" said Cole.
"Yeah. I wonder why."
"I guess they're just trying to protect the Pokemon within the forest from, you know, smugglers or thieves."
"That's probably it."
The buzzing Magneton circled around me for a few seconds, then moved on to Cole.
The doors slid open. I walked out and took a sniff of the fresh air. I heard the distant chirps of some Bird Pokemon. My hand automatically went to Apollo's pokeball on my belt. There were about 10 more pokeballs in my bag.
I sent Apollo out.
"Fenne, fen, fen!"
"I'm as excited as you are, bud."
I heard Cole's footsteps behind me."Man, am I pumped!" he exclaimed.
"We have to split up now. Meet you in an hour."
"Yeah, bye"
As a rule, the Pokemon here were pretty low-leveled. I was thinking of what Pokemon I would encounter when a Tropius flew right above me. It seemed to pay no attention to me whatsoever.
I ploughed through the exotic bushes, and took a few photos with my PokeNav.
That's when I realised I was probably scaring away the Pokemon. I tried a more stealthy approach, and spotted a Spinarak. As soon as I gave Apollo the command to attack, it scuttled away under a bush.
I sighed. I had a soft spot for Bug Pokemon. They never seemed to get nearly as much attention as other types. Oh, well.
As I treaded over the soft grass, I saw a fairly large pond. Might as well go and try to catch some Water Pokemon. Though it was going to be tough considering Apollo was a Fire type.
My eyes scanned the pond for any signs of movement. A Finneon jumped out of the clear blue water. No way I could battle it.
Suddenly, I heard the rustle of leaves behind me. I spun around to find a Buizel bounding towards the pond. It stopped as it saw me, and paced back a few steps.
Apollo took up an intimidating stance, his bushy tail waving from side to side. He picked up a twig from the ground and munched on it, giving off heat from his ears. The Buizel, on the other hand, looked under-confident and twitchy.
"Apollo, start off with consecutive Scratch attacks!"
Apollo lunged forward and lifted his paw. The Buizel, however, proved to be agile as it swayed from side to side to dodge the attacks.
I knew that Fire-type moves wouldn't be effective, so I had to manage with Scratch and Tail Whip.
The Buizel swelled up its chest, then launched a Water Gun, which Apollo easily evaded.
"Another Scratch! Sprint this time!"
The Buizel used a Quick Attack to dodge it. This was one feisty Pokemon. Apollo was getting slightly agitated.
"Hit him with a Tail Whip, and if dodges it, Scratch!"
The Buizel was pretty close to him this time, and he managed to land the Tail Whip and the Scratch.
"Before he recovers, Ember!"
Apollo launched a stream of flames, and even though it wasn't very effective, I could see it hurt the Buizel.
There was no time to lose. I speedily grabbed a pokeball from the open pocket of my bag and threw it at the Buizel. It disappeared into the pokeball in a flash of red energy.
I bit my fingernails. The ball shook once, then........

Yay! Finally done with this chapter. Not exactly a long one, but definitely longer than my previous chapters. Thank you for all the support guys! I now have like, 330 views? That's crazy. I should thank Pikachick's Reading Requests for this, because that is probably where most of you found this book. I would otherwise still be struggling to get one vote (I think). If you guys have any feedback, I would love to hear from you in the comments. Also, do you think I should put pictures in each of my chapters?
Anyway, thanks for reading. Vote and comment!
