Avery is adorable when's she's confused.

I woke up this morning with, how she put it, a rainbow shoved up my ass. I genuinely couldn't be happier to be alive and apparently it's pissing off my grumpy and sore pregnant wife.

I fucking love it.

She has no idea why it's like I snorted a line of serotonin and that's on purpose. I've been planning this for months. I had the plan before she got pregnant, before everything went down. The first thing I did when we got back from the hospital was make the first phone calls.

Grace doesn't know either, but they're not meeting us there. I wanted to show Aves first and then once we leave, Casey will bring Grace. When I brought up the idea to him all that time ago, the man almost orgasmed at the idea. I haven't seen his face lit up like that since Kenny was born.

"Are we going to the rink?" she asks, her brows furrowed deep as she recognizes the tree lined North Western roads. My lips press together to hide my expression, which apparently gives it away.

She groans and drops her head back to the seat, her hand coming to her bump. She's 24 weeks pregnant as of yesterday, which officially enters her into the six months mark. Time is flying.

It's May now and Playoffs are in full swing. The Kraken beat the Canucks in the First Round with two games to spare. The one loss we had was because of two fluke goals off a couple of defensemen which blew, but we came back stronger than ever. Everything about that series was rough and demanding and it was so fucking fun. Next up is LA and I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm even more excited for it.

Avery and Grace are even going to make the trip for the two games down there so that Aves can see Cam. It'll be really nice to have my good luck charm at away games, I'll tell you that for free.

I'm brought back to my grumpy wife when she says, "You literally cannot get me on that ice right now, babe. I refuse. You'll have to drag my fat, pregnant ass there."

A snort rolls from the back of my throat as I look over at her. God, I love her dramatic ass.

"No ice required," I tell her as I put my hand on her thigh. She instantly covers mine with hers and laces our fingers together. All bark and no bite. "I'm not risking your safety."

She hums and goes back to looking out the window, giving up on questioning me. I think she's finally learned after nearly a decade of being together that if I want something to be a surprise, it'll be a surprise.

Her adorable confusion stays put as she watches us turn down a newly paved rode right before the parking lot into the rink, looking over to me. "Has this road always been here?"

A shrug is all she gets, which makes her narrow her eyes at me. "Is this where you murder me?"

"What?" I ask with a surprised laugh, looking over at her.

She's still looking at me suspiciously. Dear God. "Some serial killers play the long game."

I roll my eyes and look back at the road. "Shut up and just wait."

A very dramatic sigh leaves her lips as she crosses her arms and grumbles something under her breath. The pouting doesn't last long at all, though. Her arms drop as she sees what was definitely not there before.

"Finn..."

"Aves..."

"What the fuck is that?"

I pull up in front of the neighboring foundations of two rather large houses, putting the car in park and patting her leg. "Come on."
