Nobody Knew

Chapter 4

I stare at the door that has my next class behind it.  I should just let him know.  Or should I?

I open the door and walk to the seat I normally sit in.  Of course as I walk to my seat I see him out of the corner of my eye.

As he sees me he stands up.  I hurry over to the seat I normally sit in.  We don't have assigned seats but normally sit in the same seats.

As I sit down I see him stand up.  I just pick up my book and start reading.  I was reading The Perks of Being A Wallflower again, it was one of my favorites.

I don't see him sit down but I do hear him say;

"Well we meet again."

I place my book down.

"What do you want Benjamin?"  I ask, pretending to be slightly annoyed.

"To know your name."  He says.

I turn and look at him now.  To look at his perfect hair and beautiful eyes.

"Stop it." I tell myself.

"Not happening."  I say.

He smirks.

"I will find out your name."  He says.

I smile as the bell rings to start class.

"Then good luck."  I say as the teacher starts talking.

I sit thru that class with Ben trying to steal my binder.   When the bell rings I go to my next class.  I sit in my usual seat and reopen my book.

I have science 7th period, so we have those weird tables that two people sit out.

I hear someone sit next to me.  I look up.  Mostly because Nicole is in this class with me, and she makes sure no one sits with me.

But, of course, it's just Ben. 

"So, can I know your name now?"  He asks with a smile.

I just frown at him.

"Don't sit here."  Is all I say.

His smile disappears. 

"What?  Why?"  He asks. 

His eyebrows start to crunch up and look almost concerned.

"Look, if you want to stay popular and socially acceptable you'll move.  Sit here you put it all at risk.  Your choice."  I snap then go back to my book.

I keep reading my book as he says my name.  Then suddenly he rips my book from my hands.

"Give it back."  I say.

He smiles and I can tell it won't be that easy.

"No.  Tell me why my popularity is at stake if I sit here."  He says.

I shake my head no and try to grab my book.  No luck.

"Tell me then you get the book."  He says.

"Nicole will ruin you."  I say.

Then in one swift motion I grab my book while he's still processing and then the bell rings.

The teacher starts talking.  We're studying biology, which isn't my favorite but I'm still okay at.

"Holly, can you tell me the basic unit of life?"  My teacher, Mr. Alex asks.

"Atoms."  I say.

I hear Mr. Alex tell me how I'm correct and out of the corner of my eyes see Ben's eyes widen.

"Holly Sutopulos?  You're Nick's sister aren't you."  He whispers.

I just nod my head and continue with the lesson.

When the final bell rings I grab all my stuff and head for the door.  I'm almost there when I hear it.

"Holly."

It's Nicole's voice.  But this time I don't stop walking in fear.  I keep walking.  I hear her coming up behind me but I keep going.

I only stop when I get to my locker.  I open it and put my book in and grab the stuff I need for my homework.

"What did I tell you about people sitting with you freak?"  I hear Nicole say from behind me.

I close my locker and shoulder my bag before turning around.

"That you'd ruin them.  Guess what.  I don't give a fuck anymore.  I forgot my cup of care today so fuck off."  I say then push past her to the football field.

I wait here everyday for Nick who has practice.

I put my earbuds in and start my homework.  I sit there for about 10 minutes when I feel someone poke my shoulder.  I look up and remove one of my earbuds.  It's Nick.

"We need to talk when we get home okay?"  He says.

I nod and he goes back to the field.  I put my earbud back in and finish my homework.
