Nobody Knew

Chapter 14

It was days like this I knew I still had my bad luck.

It's been a few weeks since my encounter with Nicole.  The weeks were great.  I've know Luna and Jake for like a month and a half now.

Today is, as Effie from The Hunger Games says, "a big, big, big day". You're probably wondering what today is.

Well ladies and gentlemen today is my birthday. Today is December 7th. (Authors Note: That's my actual birthday...)

I turned 16 today and I'm really excited because Nick said tonight I would "have so much fun I would forget everything else". So I'm ready.

As I get dressed I pull on an all black dress with a red, black, blue and white flannel and my all black TOMS. I brush my hair and pull it into a ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. I add a bit of mascara and a bit of eyeliner to make my gray blue eyes pop.

As I run down the stairs, I grab my bag and run into the kitchen.  The lights are off so I move slowly till I get to the light switch.

"Surprise!"  I hear as I turn on he lights.

The kitchen is decorated with birthday things and there are 7 people in my kitchen; Nick, Will, Mary, Cat, Luna, Ben and Jake.

"Guys thank you."  I say.

Nick make pancakes so there's a big plate full of them at the table.  We all sit down and start eating before Nick jumps up.

"I almost forgot," he starts, "mom and dad sent you this."  He says handing me an envelope.  "And I got you this thing and something else I'll give you later."  He says handing me cube package.

I open the envelope from my parents first finding money, as usual for birthdays and other special occasions they miss.

Then I slowly open the package from Nick.  Everyone watches me as I slowly pull away the paper from the object.

A block of wood.  That's what was wrapped.  A block of wood.

Okay now you're probably confused.  The block of wood is a movie reference from my favorite movie of all time; Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium (Authors Note: this is an amazing movie and I think you should all watch it.)

"Thank you Nick."  I say.

"Is that a concreve cube?" Jake asks.

I turn to look at him.

"I don't know. Is this Molly Mahonies first?"  I question back making another reference.

"What the hell is happening?"  Ben asks.

I smile and laugh. 

"I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER FAN!  OH MY MORTIMER I FOUND ANOTHER ONE!" I yell.

I get up and rush over to Jake hugging him.

"Someone explain what the bloody hell you're talking about." I hear Will yell.

"Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium. Get with it Mutant." I say.
