"Amanda can you get your brother, Dinner is ready!"

"Yeah I got it mom!" Amanda yelled from upstairs. Suddenly I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind.

"Hey honey" Sam kissed my cheek and I turned around.

"Hello to you too"I kissed him on the lips.

"Ewww mom dad my poor eyes!" Amanda covered her face.

"Eeeeew" I laughed at how Alex copied his sister by covering his face with his little hands.

"Haha come on let's eat before it gets cold." I picked up alex and put him on his high chair.

Once everyone was seated I took the time to look at my family.

A lot has happened since I graduated high school.

After graduation I decided to move away, after Connor passed away I wanted to start new.

After a year and a half I came back and ran into Sam again, we started going out and after a year of dating he proposed.

Two weeks after our wedding I found out I was pregnant with Amanda. It was the happiest moment of my life.

Later when Amanda was 5 I found out I was pregnant with Alex. Now Amanda is 10 and alex is 5.

I heard a bark and I looked down, of course who could forget Zina and Zeus.

Zeus is one of Zina's pups...well he's not as small as before but still. Zina gave birth to many beautiful puppies but we only kept one.

"Hey mom can we get ice cream after visiting your friends grave?" I nodded.

I looked over at Sam and he smiled at me. We've told our kids my story with Connor but They are still too young to understand.

Sam understood the promise I had made to Connor at his grave before I
Left. I love him so much and I appreciate what he does for me.

After Connor passed I began to believe that I would never fall in love again but this man before me made me realize that everyone has a second chance to be happy.

After lunch we went to the graveyard. I stood I front of his grave and we each placed a rose upon it.

"Hello Connor here we are again, we all still miss you." I paused and looked at Sam. I motioned for him to come to my side.

"I've found my happiness again." He hugged me.

"I also promised you something Connor and I intend to keep it for the rest of my life. I will always take care of Emma and I will make sure she is happy."

I looked at Sam confused.

"What? When did you make that promise?"

"It was the day you took me and Caleb to see him. He told me he always knew how I felt about you and he made me promise him that I would make you happy if he couldn't." He smiled at me.

He liked me even back then? And Connor knew?

I looked back at his gravestone. Even if it wasn't with you you wanted me to be happy. I was a lucky girl to have met you Connor.

After a while Sam took the kids to the car to give me some privacy.

"You know...my kids also have a part of you. My kids names are Amanda lee and Alexander Connor." I wiped a tear away.

"I may have a wonderful husband and beautiful children but you will always be in my heart." I stood up

I felt a shiver and I looked up, tears ran down my face.

There he was smiling at me.

I felt his happiness for me, I smiled back at him. A sudden gust of wind blew, my hair flew in front of my face and the leaves scattered on the ground.

I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, I laughed feeling happy. When I opened my eyes he was gone.

I looked at the sky.

"Thank you Connor....For everything....thank you. I looked at his grave one more time.

"You will always be in my heart and you will always be my first love....

....The one that got away"
